View Full Version : How long does a split lip last?

I've got a vertical cut on my upper lip that's like a cm tall and maybe 1/2 a cm wide. It's not bad, but it's ugly. How long til it goes away? I got it last night grappling.

It depends on your healing capability.

One of my students (18 years old) who got a split lip in a fight needed about 3 weeks for it to completely heal.

I don't know how long that will last, but you might want to check with a Doc or RN to see how to minimize scarring as it heals.

Usually takes me a week or two. Use chapstick and keep hydrated; chapped lips tend to retard the healing process.

I've been putting Neosporin on it.

I was using chapstick before but it kept the scab all soggy and gross. I don't know if that helps it heal or not.

It's half on my lip and half above so I hope the edge of my lip heals properly. Maybe I will go see a Doctor.

It probably will scar the bit above your lip a bit. But don't worry, it'll only make you look a bit harder.

a very annoyingly long time, especially if your prone to get drunk and speak loudly with overexagerated speach motions!.
