As part of the build up to the Beijing 2008 Olympics, the authorities in China have decided to document the spread of Southern Chinese Martial Arts around the world. Why just the Southern Arts, I don't know. Probably less of them!

It will be a 30 episode documentary which will be broadcast on Chinese Television. If popular, it may be shown on satellite outside China - Discovery Channel no doubt!

The researchers have found out there are 129 different types of martial arts that originated in Southern China and will feature 29 of the most popular ones in the 30 episodes. Arts like Wing Chun, Hung Gar, Choy Li Fut etc.

Wing Chun gets 2 episodes of their own as it is the most popular one and the fact that a certain Bruce Lee popularised Chinese Martial Arts.

So, anyone had a visit from a film crew from China regarding this?

An irony- many good southern artists escaped to HK to get away
from the new regime in the 50s. Then the spreading overseas-
specially wing chun.
Politics has it's zig zags.... and politics will define where the film crews go.

Third Degree - Ask Gene if this is the same film crew that was at the 10th anniversary gala in San Francisco this past summer.

There was a film crew from China filming us train our wing chun in the lobby of the hotel. They were there awhile.

Keep us posted if you hear anything.

Thanks,
David
