beiquan,

Thank for the translation.

r.,

I cannot find any direct reference to 'chi pen tung tso -- basic movements' when Huo Yuen Chia was alive.

However, when Huo was alive, his school had a very difficult time really getting off the ground, due to lack of students and a good stable location. Huo's untimely death came very shortly after he introduced his modern concept of his school. This is one of the reasons why he never really taught his own style, Mi Tsung, in his school. His curriculum never really got off the ground.

I speculate that such an excerise did exist because when Huo was alive, his first generation of students talked about how they had to go thru a series of excerises before learning any real martial arts.

After Huo's death, the school came to a sudden halt until a new head Instructor, Chao Lin Ho, was selected. he then created his own curriculum and the rest is history.

Huo Yuen Chia really only knew two styles, tan Tui and Mi Tsung.

It was not until Yip Yee Ting (Cantonese) came out to teach Shaolin Mi Tsung Lo Hon some twenty-five years later. He claims his uncle in his villiage combined the two styles together to form a specialized style for their family business in the Escort Agency. Anyway Mi Tsung Lo Han is a more recent developed style as compared to Mi tsung and Lo Han which both have a rich deep history.
