I know there is another forum for this but I have a compliment to offer:

The last paragraph in Gigi's Publisher's Corner of the May/June 2003 issue is very eloquent.

ok,

"My associate Gene Ching says it's all about this new word to me - Diaspora. First he said it was like the Jews in Babylon, which made no sense to me at all. Then he said it was about seeds scattering to the wind. That makes sense. In Chinese, we call the martial world wulin (martial forest). After years of conflict in China, Kung Fu seeds have sprouted. They've grown into trees and spread more seeds. Now we are seeing the flowers of another spring bloom. Soon the mighty wulin will grow thick all around the world. Maybe then we can sell out. But until then we'll keep reaching out, preparing the soil for the next seeds on the wind"

the bit about selling out makes no sense unless you read the entire editorial. And I'm NOT typing the entire thing. Maybe Gene can post it if it's not available elsewhere in the kingdom of KFQM.

:)

Subscribe!? Are you kidding!?

6 issues for US$15.00 from Martial Arts Mart. OK, that doesn't seem too bad at first, that's AUS$30.00 (Australian Dollars) which is only 5 bucks an issue. Cool.

Add to shopping cart.

Wait a minute...

Overseas shipping....

NON-US mail....

US$37.00

WTF!?

Suddenly it's AUD$104.00 or more than $17 per issue.

Do you all wear black masks and stripey shirts over there and carry bags marked SWAG?

serpent, wouldn't international shipping fees be the post carrier and not KFQM???

that's still a lot though.

I'm not sure any magazine is worth that. Check with a local newstand (or the aus equiv) and get them to check their distributor lists. Magazines have only 80-90% markup and distributors credit the retailer with full price on unsold copies. So, it wouldn't be a loss for a newstand to add the 3 copies of the mag to their draw every other month.
