Where can I get an image small enough to put in my avatar? Can i just resize an image i already have?

Yes, 50x50 pixels is the only valid size for avatars.

lol, you can resize anything or take a segment of a pic and make it 50x50, then in your user control panel under edit options, you can upload it :)

I wanted to give the avatar thing a try. It was not to hard but I had to use photoshop to make mine smaller. It worked but seemed like alot to go through for a silly picture.

My photoshop isn't letting me resize anything, and the crop looks really bad.

You may have to resise it to 35 or 40 by fifty depending on your photo program or the image can be distorted.

What I like to do is create a new project, sized 50 x 50.

Then, open your picture, copy it, and paste it onto a new layer of the 50 x 50 project.

Once the desired picture is pasted onto a new layer, you can move it around until you get the best angle/crop, or you can resize the new layer until it looks like you want it.

**** it! Now i can't even see it with photo shop. It says the file may be damaged.

If I give you the web adress can you still make it work?

maybe. You might make sure you didn't save it as a .JPE file. Photoshop won't recognize it. If so, change the extension to .JPG, and then try to open it.
