Many years ago, I witnessed a young woman doing an unusual form in a park. There wre other people nearby doing taiji, but she did not appear to be part of their group.
The movements she was doing were very linear, quick and direct.
When I asked her what the movements were she replied "phoenix box."
I havn't come across that term since that time.
Has anyone here heard of "Phoenix Boxing?"
What exactly is it?

Maybe Xingyi? Xingyi tends to look linear, quick and direct, plus I think there's a number of people that translate one of the 12 animal forms into english as Pheonix

If she was spreading her arms out in a circle, and then attacking with both fists to the front, it's the Phoenix (Tai Bird) from Xingyi

Sounds like spm to me as in that book link from masterkiller.

I wonder if this is the book firehawk is always going on about ("CHUKKA SHAOLIN PHEONIX FIST") on the Southern forum. Why is Chu Gar being marketed as phoenix-eye fist unless it's a breakaway?
