That Spiderman/Darth Maul conflict would be quite a sight.

They're both quite fast however Spidey IS faster. Stronger as well.

His spider sences enable him to prettymuch dodge bullets while Maul's force can enable him to deflect blaster fire. So with his jumping and wall crawling he could effective dodge lightsaber swings... however, one connection would end it.

The webbing may slow Maul down, forcing him to have to cut through it, and one shot hitting the saber & Maul would be disarmed... Or he would have to let himself be pulled along with the saber. However if Spidey can successfully web the saber to a wall or floor then there's no way maul would free the saber in time...

Very close indeed...


also remember Darth Maul was chopped in half by a young Obi Wan... so he may not be as BAD @SS as he looks.... ;) :D

First off, Maul is much too fast with the saber to let a few webs slow him down. He holds his own against TWO Jedi Knights, the baddest muthers in the galaxy. TWO of them!

Plus, he smart, and he fights smart. Dig that Harvard accent, boys. Maul ain't no dumb animal. He purposely led Qui-Gon into the reactor so Obi-Wan couldn't help. The fact that Obi-Wan kills him is null. Obi-Wan becomes one of the greatest Jedi Knights in history...it is Obi-Wan's hubris that brings him down eventually, not his abilities. A healthy Obi-Wan would have slaughtered Vader in his prime...and does...which is why Anakin becomes Vader in the first place. This is also evident when Obi-Wan eventually allows Vader to kill him. How many times does Vader stomp that robe to make sure Obi-Wan is gone? He's afraid because he knows what Obi-Wan was once capable of. But I digress....

Let's not forget one thing. The Dark Side of the Force has given Maul extra-sensory abilites as well. Can he run up a wall? No. But he can manipulate objects and throw people/things around ala telekenisis. Dooku and Palpatine also display an affintity for Force Lightning, so it is reasonable to assume Maul has the same ability (and does display it in Jedi Power Battles), in which case he would just FRY Spidey and be done with it.

He can also sense attacks from all angles. Dig that block behind his back he does against Qui-Gon. He's not even looking at it.

Or he could just Force Choke Spidey off his freakin web from a distance.

Besides, is Spidey so dedicated to his cause that he would Tattoo his whole body? Na, he run off and cry about the responsibility of power or some shlt once the going got tough.

And you should'nt underestimate his webs either. They could almost tie down the Juggernauth (spelling?), and that's some strong webbing my friend. Maul does use the Force to push Obi-Wan into the reactor pit. And remember, to use a lightsaber, one must also be attuned to the Force to keep from cutting off your own head. Now, since Maul by far demonstrates the most skill with a saber in any of the movies, it's reasonable to assume he's highly attuned to the Force. It was the hardcore training the Palpatine put him through that turned him into a bad@ss.

He doesn't use the lightning against Obi-Wan because he wants to beat him with his skills. In the original script, Obi-Wan and Maul talk to each other during the fight:

Obi-Wan: "Your style of fighting is old, but I understand it now..."
Maul: "You learn fast."
Obi-Wan: "You don't bother to learn."
Maul: "I don't have to."
Obi-Wan then cuts Maul in half and says: "Learn not, live not, my master always says."

Now, obviously Maul is soooo confident in his abilities because he has killed a ton of people before. Palapatine uses Maul as an assassin for years before he fights Obi-Wan. He even infiltrated the Black Sun syndicate and killed many of their top officials., without ever being detected.

So Spidey is strong...doesn't matter. As Vader says in Ep IV "The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force."

His webs are strong? Nothing can cut through a lighstaber. Maul would slice through them like butter. In fact, the only thing that can block a lightsaber is another lightsaber. I don't think Spidey has the training.

And Spidey sense? So what! Maul used the Force to track down Amidala fromhalf-way across the galaxy. That's some strong precognition.

Spiderman's spidersence allow him to predict when & where a bullet will be (ala bullet-time) thus dodging it. So in theory he could fire one web (there's little doubt he would hit his target) and when maul slices said web he could then fire the second web trapping the light saber.

Of course Maul would be able to use the force to sence the web trajectories and adjust accordingly however Spidey would then sence the adjustment and adjust to the adjustment whih maul would sence againt adjust to illiciting and equivilant responce from Spiderman ad-infinitum.

So would it then come to a question of who is actually "faster?"

Not sure about the "force-choke" as Maul never displayed it while Vadar DID & of course as the one who would bring balance to the force & possesing a higher "midiclorian" count than any Jedi in history it's concievable that Maul could do so at a slightly less effective level than Vadar.

Again there's a time delay with both the Choke as well as the push. It may be the level of FX available to the movies, but based on Empire Strikes Back it's apparent that there's a time delay between reaching out with the force to effect something & creating that effect. Even YODA needed time to stop that pillar from falling on Anikan & Obi durring Episode II so the telekenisis of the force isn't as direct as say the telekenisis of the Marvel Universe. Again that time delay would work to Spidey's advantage.

Spiderman can jump about 3 stories in any direction, being tossed back 20' would be completely ineffective as he would certainly be able to land on his feat. For the Jedi, that 20feet is significant as they are strongest at close ranges. For Spiderman short & long range are very interchangable.

Consider also that Spiderman could just stay on the ceiling out of saber range and cover the whole area in webbing. Or what if he just got in close enough to hold onto the saber itself sticking right onto Maul's chest?

Maul's greatest advantage is that Spiderman would be unfamiluar with Darth Maul's capabilities. Durring that time he would be in grave danger as Maul is ruthless and, as that clipped script implies, not remotely interested in learning anything about his opponent; just killing him.

Still not sure who would win.

The reason Qui-GOn is hung up on Midi-Chlorians is because he believes in the 'living' Force. He tells Yoda "[Obi-Wan] has much to learn of the living force, but he is capable."

So, most Jedi believe the Force is something tangible. That is why they put so much emphasis on the Midi-Chlorians. It is also why they fall. They believe they know everything. The librarian in EP II tells Obi-Wan: "If it is not in the Jedi Archives, it does not exist!"

Their hubris knows no bounds, and is there ultimate downfall.

Because they don't know it yet. They think the Force is Tangible, that it is something Alive, like them, and that their connection to the Force is through other life-forms--Midi-Chlorians. The do not yet realize that there is something spiritual about the Force, and that it transcends physical constructs.

Yoda is the first to figure it out, which is why you ONLY see Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Anakin in "spirit" form at the end of Return of the Jedi, and not the other 10,000 Jedi that die in the Clone Wars.

If Magento can't do more than the Death Star, and Vader claims the Force is stronger than the Death Star, I say Maul, by default because of his Force training.

Well consider that Darth Vader could be talking from a velot's POV when he says "The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force."

he Emperor himself is having the deathstar built... why would he if he could simply distroy a planet via the force?

In the mean time Magneto's powers extend well into the influences of gravity & has on more than one occasion nearly switched the magnetic poles of earth.

While he may or may not be attuned to "THE FORCE" his power over magnetism is quite on par being a significant "force" in the universe itself. Consider also we have no idea of the IRON content in Maul's blood.

While a light saber demands attunmnet with the force Magneto could certainly disassemble it with a waive of the hand leaving Maul weaponless. Magneto can also use his powers to deflect energy beams as well as create the lightning effects similar the other sith lords...

He also has a proven resistance to telepathic assaults as well...

I remember an X-men ish where Wolerine simulates his assassination on Mahneto. Sneakin bye a whole island of security, in to his house, and fighting M. Over and over again. Someone ask him if he ever kills Magneto and he says: *a few times'. Then he increase the difficulty.

Magneto can be defeated but Maul is just to weak.

Magneto is usually fighting the X-men.... More often than not the most the X-men usually get is to simply "stop" his current plans ...like flipping the earths magnetic poles...

Usually it's a combination of Luck and sacrafice that Stop him... but Magneto has been rairly "beaten" in the traditional sence...

The Death Star is a symbol of the Empire's might, meant to deter star systems from rebelling against the Empire. The fact that it can destroy planets IS linked to the Force, as you will see in EP III.

It's Magneto's helmet that protects him from psychic attacks, like Juggernauts.

Magneto can also draw up a forcefield around himself. He'd be maul for sure.

Force lightning can only be used by a Sith Lord.

Jedi use the Force for knowledge and DEFENSE...never attack. In Attack of the Clones, Yoda does a very Shaolin thing...he refuses to accept Dooku's lightning attack, and sends it back to him. He does not himself initiate the attack.

Of course, this sets up a conflict concerning Luke Skywalker. As he was only partially trained, and not fully indoctrinated into the Jedi order (i.e. have all attachments removed from his life), he does a foolish thing--In ROTJ, he Force-Chokes two Gamorrean Guards in Jabba's palace. Luke's lack of discipline is almost his undoing, as the Emperor points out later when he urges Luke to strike him down. A fully indoctrinated Jedi would not have had to struggle with that decision, but Luke has a hard time deciding which is more important--his friends' lives, or respect for the Force.

Pre-supposing the Matrix could apply to distant galaxies, that does not mean it has the ability to transpose different time periods. Since the Matrix takes place a thousand or so years in our future, and Star Wars takes place thousands of years before our current time, even if the Matrix could allow Neo to displace himself into another galaxy, I do not think he could alter his temporal position in the time/space continuum.
