Hey I just read this cool article on Xingyi's fighting-strategy, check it out:

When practicing, imagine as if you are facing a top fighter. However, in real combat, the mind is calm, and the face is not angry. "Be like there´s no one in front of you". The body remains relaxed at all times. Whole body power cannot be used with tense muscles and a worried mind. The body strikes in the manner of a bamboo pole: It´s flexible before reaching the opponent, and at the time of contact, the whole body tenses for a second, and the strikes come out with shocking force.

The important point is to keep the eyes alive, the body must be ready to follow the intention and keep the distance. If the opponent doesn´t move, the Xingyi practicioner doesn´t move. If the opponent makes one little movement, or hesitates, thus closing the distance, the Xingyi fighter advances with quick steps, breaking the enemy´s defense, and strikes him, with multiple attacks or simultaneous attack and defense, gaining space and not letting him step away from the attack, until the enemy is down. The mindset is finishing the encounter as soon as possible.


If the Xingyi fighter attacks first, he/she won´t let the enemy even know where the attack's coming from. One hand shows up, creating a reaction in the opponent. Based on that reaction, the Xingyi technique changes, attacking in many different ways, with shocking strikes that hurt, no matter where they land. (Because of its shocking nature, even a strike on the shoulder will transfer energy to the neck of the opponent, shaking his head with extreme force). Then, a fast takedown will finish the fight.

Xingyi trains the fighter to attack with every part of the body, specially with the "Seven Stars" (Head, Shoulder, elbow, hand, hips, knees and feet). Together with the whole body, they form the "Fourteen Fists". The fist come out like a shooting arrow, with force and vicious speed. The head, shoulders, hips and knees are very dangerous in close combat. Any of this parts of the body, being trained with the practice of Xingyi, can deliver a dangerous strike.

In standing grappling situations, the Xingyi fighter doesn´t spend too much time. He uses attacks to break the hold by striking the opponent, followed with techniques intended to finish the fight before the enemy tries to grapple again.

Xingyi is a devastating fighting art, training the individual to strike even as he retreats, or turns.

Generally the fighting stance is a 45° position, with one foot ahead of the other. This protects the 'gates' of the body, because they are more hard to see, this way. Also, a smaller target is presented in this position. In addition to that, in this way is easier to move into the opponent´s range.

With all this in mind, one can understand how an art like Xingyi has stood the test of time. From the Chinese soldier on the battlefield to the modern day practitioner, this no-nonsense aggresive fighting art excels at what martial arts were created for, not health or character development ... but striped down highly effective fighting.

anyhoo, anout the metro.. yeh, its pretty fresh, its just lame that the last 6 stations are on Amager, some idiotic island outside of KBH. they want to build this new hi-tech city out there, thats why they build the metro stations there in advance. but at the moment, its just deserted out there, just fields and some unfinished buildings. it looks like Pyongyang on a bad day. but its pretty cool, running around in the fields out there;)

also 2 people have been killed in the metro, becaue there is these electric escalators goin down there. some idiots who had drank & smoked 2 much had tried to balance on the edge of it, resulting in a free fall, approximately 17 m down.

I'd do XY for about 2 years before I'd wander off to mma. But that's just me. I like having a good base in something. Go try it and see if you like it. Even if you go with this club you could still practise your XY forms on your own right?

our scedual is like this, odd weeks it's Shuai Chiao otherwise 5 animal (but this is very 'modern' and militaristic way to it. Our basics looks like Muay Thai) So in the week days we do mostly light sparring, and if it's SC we go all out. (we're allowed to grab hair when doing throws etc)
And every friday we do stand-up fullcontact. Boxing gloves, teeth protection, knee pads and cup if you want too. We do it by Sanda rules.

We have very mixed ways of sparring. Somtimes we do a combinated Shuai Chiao/sanda session. Like Shootfighting only without gloves. Open hands to the face (palms), fist against body. Throws, sweeps, locks, chokes, take downs.. Knees and elbows are allowed and it's fullcontact aswell. We always use knee and teeth protection. But not a cup during SC because it gets in the way so to speak.. And no gloves obviously.


The weeks when we do Shuai Chiao and finish with friday's training are pretty rough. You're body takes alot of damage by banging in the floor again n again n again..... :)

I used to as well. Tai Chi was pretty expensive, so was JW. 400 a month for 8 training lessons.. and it was crap:eek: (JW was)
JKD was ok, 300 a month, and u learned lots. but the money for all that equipment u had to buy.. Hooo-wheee. dayum.
this is pretty cheap as u can see.;)

I'm sorry to say that our minister for foreign politics died tonight from the stabbing. Thought i'd let u know. It's sad.... but it just bugs me alot, it's been on the news all ****ing day. People in Alaska and Iceland as opposed to Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan.

The Violence in Miami , as opposed to Aspen.
maybe you guys can think up more.

I'm generalizing , but i think theres truth in it. People (the general public) tends to be more calm, less agitated , less violent , in colder regions.

In hotter climates there are more cases of riots and civil unrest and generally a more ignorant/easily angered

The answer is that I,above all,DID that stuff.
So,that was when I was pretty young,highly critical though,and the material is hard to put in to words.
In addition,I drew "illustrations" of animals (dinosaurs),something that I cannot recall much of.
It´d be a great skill though.Currently,I´d really like to be able to illustrate.Should you be able to,you can even make (some) money with that.
