Do u train positioning and techs the most?

chen zhen
09-28-2003, 08:53 AM
yes, basics. it would be like, drilling a few basics the first hour, and then the other hour we put it in use, in freestyle sparring.

Kristoffer
09-28-2003, 08:59 AM
ok cool. Is takedowns/throws in the basics stuff or do u learn that later on?

chen zhen
09-28-2003, 09:05 AM
we have only practiced a shoulder throw, but else we havent done takedowns. when its VT classes, we train clinches, and a leg-trip from a front bear-hug.

u can go here http://bjj.org/techniques/ if u wanna see how it looks like.
we train no-gi btw.

I was out with my homie, the stalker, and we looked at some used cars, at some shop owned by kurds. there was a Peugeot 405 for the rediculously low price of 6500 kr.
were gonna buy it when we can get off our asses and get a drivers licence. (if we need it at all, I doubt all those 15-year old perks who drive around have one. so why should we?)
or we could borrow one by some perk-gangsters, they do cars all day. I guess they could spare one.

I cant wait till we get some wheels, then were gonna cruise around, blazing the music up, pickin up hos.
this is da bgp lifestyle, gotta live it all out:)

Former castleva

Well, considering that it´s your country, fifteen year olds will probably get to drive cars legally anyway. ;)

when you have to battle them it is no fun.
especially if the ghosts arent really ghosts.
some days indeed suck
some days dont
and nature doesnt care,

we shouldnt be ruled and goverened by our own emotions.

Indeed. The answer is found within yourself rather than in these texts. This thread is nothing as it is also everything. You cannot describe it in words. because there is no word for it to use. It is the Tao. It is butter. Think of it as the true path to attaining a certain mindset. Some harness the complex armour of it's external shell, this is wrong. Yes. I do.

Is the Swedish Coastal Army an elite unit unto itself or is it part of a larger army? they have very nice boats with huge powerful weapons.

can you tell me more. chen says u guys make your own weapons.

Kristoffer
09-30-2003, 03:30 PM
The coastal army in itself is not an elit force. there is however an elit companys within it that I don't know much about. I think it's about the same thing, coastal army (or coast hunters as they called here)
It's divided to the Naval army: out on the sea, with bigger war ships. You know, the navy. Then there's coastal and the amphibious army. This is our 'marines' and this is what I'm gonna do. (Amphibious Battalion) They operate in both land and water with subs, smaller boats (with huge ass guns) bigger boats and tons of infantry troops with different speciallitys.

comment to Swedish weapons: I know they make their own, since I have gotten the information that sweden used to sell them to South Africa during the apartheid system.
swedish weapons sales had a major influence on the assasination of PM Olof Palme as well.

oh n chen, officially there is no evidence to what motives got Palme killed. The south Africa probebly had something to do with it but there's no evidence found. In Anna Lindhs case it's beleived he's just crazy. I think he receantly told the papers he got mad during her campain, she bugged him. I doubt her murder had any underlying motives, at least nothing like in the Palme case.

Starchaser107
10-03-2003, 09:30 AM
use a camera , take some studies of the bird in question.
birds wont usually sit still long enough to let you draw them, unless theyre in a cage. I dunno how you feel about animal slavery like that?
as much references as possible helps, even if you already have a image you like and want to work with. some things can be tricky to see. depends on what you want from the picture.
I like very detailed work, and i tend to use alot of line. but whatever you chose to do, reference and cross reference and it should be cool.
also spend time looking at the actual bird, seeing its movent mannerisms etc.
should be fun :)

Former castleva
10-03-2003, 09:43 AM
Thanks for your time.
Here´s how it goes.I have barely dared to draw anything for years&years.I´m trying some paleoart (as it is called) and have been working on birds a bit.I need to use plenty of "references" to back me up for now.Coming from a comic background, this might take some effort.

"Coming from a comic background, this might take some effort."
maybe ,
although this Does mean you're accustomed to holdind a pencil/pen and drawing in some way.
when doing this type of "scientific illustration" (I'm assuming thats along the lines of what youre doing), Its important to look and capture the convincing line rather than the embellishment.
but you already know this :p
have fun with it, I think you'll do well.

Roaming, Not Hunting, Is What Pacing Polar Bears Are Missing
Oxford scientists have found that carnivores have welfare problems in zoos because they are deprived of their naturally large territories, rather than because they are deprived of their abilities to hunt, as was previously thought.

After analysing data for 35 carnivore species, Dr Ros Clubb and Dr Georgia Mason from the University of Oxford found that polar bears, lions and other animals that would naturally roam very widely appear less able to cope with captivity than more stay-at-home species. These widely-ranging carnivores are noticeably most prone to welfare problems when kept in zoos such as repetitive back and forth pacing, and infant mortality. These results could explain why pacing polar bears are such a common sight in zoos, where they are usually kept in enclosures over a million times smaller than their natural ranging areas.

'We were surprised by the results because until now we had always thought that not being able to hunt was the biggest problem for zoo carnivores,' says Dr Ros Clubb. 'Because of this, zoos have concentrated on stimulating hunting-like behaviours to try to improve their welfare. But our results suggest that it's even more important to give these animals more space, or the day-to-day changes in environment they'd experience if they were ranging naturally.'

The researchers are calling for zoos either to improve how these wide-ranging species are kept, or to phase them out in favour of animals better suited to captive life. 'It's vital to get this right, as these animals are in double jeopardy,' says Dr Mason. 'Wide-ranging carnivores are particularly hard to conserve in reserves in their natural habitat – so it's especially worrying that they are also most prone to welfare problems in captivity.'

Former castleva

I get it,Ming.
It´s good, regardless, that research like this is being done.
It could be said that I have mixed feelings about zoo´s too.Just a few days ago I learned that orangutans may be extinct in 10-20 years because their natural habitats are being defeated (illegally).Should protection fail, the future of this species of ape might lie in artificial enviroments, which should be better than nothing. This does not relate directly to zoo´s,but I think it´s worth mentioning that I´ve kept rodents/hamsters for many years. The most well-known species being the famous gold hamster.Without tracing back too much history, gold hamsters may very well have been extinct in their natural enviroment for a long time. That mentioned, they survive as pets&there appears no end to their popularity.Catching my drift?

I lean more toward the pro-zoo side. Most animals settle into captive life pretty well if they get what the need: territory, food, mates, sanitary conditions, good health care. I read somewhere that most animals that escape thier cages at the zoo come back within a short time.

However still, sometimes captive animals make me sad. mixed feelings.

I'm a pet owner and I love them. 4 cats and a turtle, currently. I'd like to get a dog sometime soon.

I'm also pro-working animals, as long as they are cared for well. No creature deserves to be mistreated in any situation, but I think animal "labor" is valid and necessary - enables people to get things and go places otherwise impossible. Ever seen a sheepdog herding? It's obviously what they love to do. Unfortunately most working animals are not cared for well....

I'm not a vegetarian, I think it's ok to raise animals for food. Again, I believe even food animals should be kept in livable, comfortable conditions and should not be tortured when it comes time for them to die.

I don't support the use of exotic or endangered (non-food) animals for simple vanity. I myself will not buy a bearskin rug, a fur coat, or alligator shoes for example.

Yeah, yeah. The problem is that not always do the animals fit in,and sometimes the conditions are absolutely horrible. That said,I´ve known&seen a dog owner or two who have absolutely no clue as far as taking care of their pets goes.

"I'm a pet owner and I love them. 4 cats and a turtle, currently. I'd like to get a dog sometime soon.
"

That´s a lot of company.

" Ever seen a sheepdog herding? It's obviously what they love to do. Unfortunately most working animals are not cared for well...."

Well, yes.I think that the domestic dog is really an exceptional species among working animals. Not because of it´s descent or abilities but rather that the enviroment inhabited today is all they ought to know about. And yes, sheepdogs habits are literally written in blood (or rather DNA) so... .

"I'm not a vegetarian, I think it's ok to raise animals for food. Again, I believe even food animals should be kept in livable, comfortable conditions and should not be tortured when it comes time for them to die."

I see.Just recently,I gave up a lot of that (meat).I still eat fish but that´s where I´ll try to draw the line at.

"I don't support the use of exotic or endangered (non-food) animals for simple vanity. I myself will not buy a bearskin rug, a fur coat, or alligator shoes for example."

Over here, there´s currently a great argument over fur animals (sp?) due to attacks etc.
I´d like to see it getting criminalized, end of the problem.

Ming Yue
10-03-2003, 01:39 PM
absolutely agree on the fur animals. I dont buy products tested on animals either, and I try to buy organic meats, dairy and eggs, but I can't always afford to.

Saw a woman at the San Francisco zoo once wearing a fur coat. She didn't last long - was chased out by a well-deserved barrage of verbal abuse.

First I think he's just another junkie/homeless/mental wanting some spare change. He doesn't know any swedish just some english n he was high as a kite.

First he wanted to fight me, but after grabbed my tensed up arm he was surprised how muscular my arm was. :D So he backed up and wanted to grab my friends nose (wtf?). I then stood up and gave him the 'back-off-look' and after that I have no idea what he wanted. He was so messed up. Hardly understood what he said just something about Knockouts, head-buttings and fighting. I think he wanted me and my friend to fight eachother (lol) but after realizing that we're friends he wanted us to fight random people WITH him.

just unlucky I guess.

the only good thing was that the few faishas who were present didnt mind gettin groped on. not that i did, but my friend did.:p he just went by them (2 hoz dancing with each other.. haram!!) and groped their asses. they didnt do a thing. I bet they get that all day.

it wasnt a club. it was in some clubhouse (so club in that sense) in this b!tch-ass ghetto.
and I even bet those hoz were minors as well. makes them even more ho-like *spits in disgust*

I also have 7 white stripes on my black belt to prove my qualifications. So, you can definitely see that my qualifications speak for themselves!

You heard the man! Look at those fruity white stripes on his belt, that means he's legit! how great! ..........
