Former I'm starting to reda a book by genious Stephen Hawkin. It's about physics, space, the future etc. Don't know the english title but the swedish is 'Universum i ett nötskal'

I think you would like this book

Former castleva
07-06-2003, 09:36 AM
Chen,
Iīll have a "surgery" tomorrow too,Iīll see how it goes. ;)

Kris,
"Universe in a nutshell".I think it is an updated version, easier version of his famous "Brief history of time" which Iīve been planning to read (even though Iīm not all THAT much into cosmology and physics)
Do you read this stuff a lot?

Kristoffer
07-06-2003, 09:40 AM
Yes I think your right beacause it looks new-printed.
I like reading about cosmology (even tho physics isn't really my thing) and new technology.

chen zhen
07-06-2003, 09:42 AM
I noticed how the way the Übersmart scientists perceive the cosmos/universe is similar to the way buddhists does.
interesting.

is it a good book?

Former castleva
07-06-2003, 09:44 AM
Itīs all nice but I prefer to stay away from anything to do with math, usually.
You know of any good, related books?
You read stuff like Carl Saganīs? (gotta note though, that material in these fields tends to date quickly as far as I know)

Kristoffer
07-06-2003, 09:45 AM
chen-
As far as I've seen, yes. But I have only read a few pages.
Cool avatar BTW

chen zhen
07-06-2003, 09:48 AM
Mine? It's master Gin Foon Mark, master of the Jook Lum style of southern mantis. i had one yesterday where he kicks someone in the chops.

Can u explain some more what the book is about? Is it sumthin like "the universe is eternal or sumthin ..blabla I don't know what I'm sayin. ferget it. I'm tired.

Kristoffer
07-06-2003, 09:50 AM
Itīs all nice but I prefer to stay away from anything to do with math,

AMEN 2 that! :D

I havn't all that much coz as you say it updates so fast so if you read something and then after a few years everything you read b4 could be wrong. I like to read about new cool gear from the millitary or NASA etc.. And read documents on suggestions on how to conolize planets etc.. (I guess I'm more science fictionist astrologer wannabe :D )

Former castleva
07-06-2003, 11:31 AM

I can get u a good avatar. Just say what, and I'll make one.

Former castleva
07-06-2003, 02:51 PM

Iīm open to surprises too of course.

chen zhen
07-06-2003, 04:00 PM

good night & drive safely. But don't hide the keys under the doormat, people like Yung Apprentice tends to find it during the night & lock himself inside, without permission.:p

Former castleva
07-06-2003, 04:01 PM
Scientifically speaking, being very tired is comparable to considerable influence of alcohol.
Also,in both cases,brain/csn can/is under distraction.

Former castleva
07-06-2003, 04:03 PM
Yung?

Uh,OK.

Is "Tukholma" the name for Sweden or Stockholm? I'm guessing sthlm?

~In Swedish~
Finland = Finland
Helsinki = Helsingfors
Denmark = Danmark
Copenhagen = Köpenhamn

Former castleva

Former
whats a Castleva?

Former castleva
07-07-2003, 05:53 AM
The name derives from the video game series "Castlevania".
It used to be Castlevania http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/forum/member.php?s=&action=getinfo&userid=8721
But for some reason which I canīt recall,I had to sign up again and thus the logical outcome is Former castleva(nia)

bodhitree
07-07-2003, 05:55 AM
Castlevania was an awesome game, even for regular NES. Did you ever play james Pond for sega. It is Pond and not Bond, You are a tadpole and you have all these really cool weapons like apple guns, and blocks of cheese you can throw at people!

Former castleva
07-07-2003, 05:57 AM
Theyīre still pretty great.

I have warm memories of James Pond 2.Never got to play 1 on console.

bodhitree
07-07-2003, 05:58 AM
1 was great, something like 100 levels!! I dont know how they did that on Sega!

chen zhen
07-07-2003, 06:01 AM
I won't be here much today, i'm going to see a movie with some homies, & then I'm gonna go to a Muay Thai class.
So I'll see u b!tches around midnight, then.

Kristoffer
07-07-2003, 06:01 AM
Sega has always been the ones that puts out the best games. Atleast after Nintendo's 'era' with the super nes. After that, Sega took over as the greatest. This is my humble oppinion

chen zhen
07-07-2003, 06:01 AM
James Pond?!
lol

07-07-2003, 06:02 AM

U are abnormal.:o zzzzzz

bodhitree
07-07-2003, 06:06 AM
Why is that Chen, cause I dont wank or play video games? I practice gongfu, study, do qigong, meditation, attend sanga, go to school, and there is no time for video games!! however I guess your right, I am pretty abnormal!:p

Former castleva
07-07-2003, 06:07 AM
See you chenzie (beeeyyyoooch!" ;) :D )

Wow.It actually had that many levels,JP2?

Sega had Saturn which rocked big time,Iīve never had a great kick out of their consoles expect when it comes to that one.

07-07-2003, 06:09 AM
Have a good day guys, I'll talk to you later!

Kristoffer
07-07-2003, 06:10 AM
bodhitree wats 'sanga'?

Former you should really buy an old dreamcast. Since they stopped makin those now n most games r dropping in prizes. I'm telling u there's a ton of great games. (I'm gonna nag on u til u buy SHENMUE and SHENMUE 2!!)

Former castleva
07-07-2003, 06:14 AM
Oh.I see.

Itīs kind of a tricky situation,Iīve even considered affording some dusty "wormbox" console and then there are all these others, like DC which should not be too much of a pain to go for these days...I wonder if itīs like what happened to Saturn some years ago,you donīt get a single game from anywhere and it gets buried?
I suppose itīs up to date enough to crack a reaction.

Kristoffer
07-07-2003, 06:21 AM
Nah it's still easy to find DC games, their always listed everywhere too. Like in stores.

Now here's a brain cookie for ya
The SM series is like a bible to me and I play them religiosly. But if the third is ever made it will probebly be released on x-box. Now, if you were me would you buy a new (crappy, with few good games) console just for ONE game? Don't like it but I will have to do it if the third comes out.

Former castleva
07-07-2003, 06:27 AM
Maybe you could rent it or something,if they still do that.

Iīd consider twice.

Sangha is the brotherhood of monks in buddhism.
So I guess booty is a booty-ist monk, or sumthin:confused:

Sangha is not nesessarily monks, it can be lay people in a fellowship of people trying to attain enlightenment. I belong to the Tree Rivers Dharma Sangha. Yes a gathering of monks is a Sangha, however a gathering of lay buddhists can be to in certain traditions. Our group is of the Tibetan lineage, Which in Tibet many Lay people are also participants in Buddhism( also in Bhutan, Burma) as opposed to somewhere like certain traditions where its really not a religion for lay people(ex. China, India)!

****. I hoped you would have babbled on while i was away. :(

But anyway... I just got home from Muay Thai. It was a big gym, with lots of students. There was a lot of partnerwork, where you jab/cross/roundkicked on each other in turns. Then there was some bagwork, and clinch-training (it was first when we begun that I began to get pummeled..lol.
There was'nt any shin-conditioning, I think my kicks where both harder & faster than my partner's, and I did'nt feel any noticeable pain when I whammed his legs. I only feel pain now in my calfes, because of the jump-rope/cardio training.
The worst thing was in the last 20 minutes, where we had to do situps, pushups, leg-raises, & back-arches on the floor (the exercises in themselfes was'nt that hard, it was the fact that the floor was soaked in other people's sweat. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D)

I hope u come back soon.

chen zhen
07-07-2003, 02:02 PM
I got a pretty good workout, but it was'nt like I expected. But what could I expect? I have'nt tried it before.:p

The strenght-program was'nt that well-developed, and the conditioning was'nt either. But I guess the classes varies. There was no sparring in that class, only the more experienced got to do that (there was also girls & middle-aged men training, so I think the more hard sparring was reserved for the fighters). The trainers was'nt very nice, they were being a tad militant. but hey, they are coaches after all. The coach that was present today was this really small dude, who was being rude.

But in conclusion: MT is cool enough, but I'll try some other gyms before I decide where to train.

Former castleva

It was mostly up to yourself to do the techs, then the coach & the experienced students went around and said "kick in a more round ancle" or sumthin like that. And then they would introduce what you had to do next, but it was'nt really well shown. But luckily my partner could show me what to do.

I can make the new thread, but I need help from all of you guys, as the commissioners for your particular field of expertise - FC for finnish, cz for danish, Kris for swedish etc. If you know any other world language, all the better, but your native language comes first.

And to make it more ORA related, we can concentrate on MA terms - words like punch, kick, block etc.

What say you guys?

Former castleva
07-08-2003, 07:39 AM
Thatīs OK.

Dunno. I guess I'll appoint the commissioners first :) ;) , open the "G.O.M.O.T.I. (Great ORA multilingual online teaching institution)" thread next, and then wait for the crowd to swarm in.

It can function like this: somebody (one of us if nobody else) gives a list of words or phrases they want translated, and then we translate it to our respective languages. Babelfish (http://babelfish.altavista.com)'s got nothing on us! :D
