Pop a blister?

i lifted a hot pot off the fire yesterday when i went camping. I had my sweater sleeve over my hand, but the head went right through. I noticed a small blister on the tip of my middle finger today. Should i just leave it ? or pop it? Mom says leave it.... and moms' are usually right :D
