I'm interested in buying a fairly good broadsword and am curious if anyone knows anything about Paul Chen swords and if they are of good quality.

Paul Chen's swords are Hanwei forge. (http://store.yahoo.com/martialartsmart/hanweiforge.html) I love them. They are some of the best on the market today. Excellent workmanship. I give my highest recommendation to his combat dao (http://store.yahoo.com/martialartsmart/452063.html). In fact, I've been toying with getting one for myself (but with dozens upon dozens of swords collecting dust in my home already, it's hard to justify.) My only complaint with this design is that the scabbard is kinda funny. It's beautifully made, but I'm not sure on teh authencity of that particular design.

Paul chen is probably the best quality you're going to find. If I could afford one I'd get it. But for now I'm stuck with my flimsy spring steel one.

I looked at this dao, but thought that the guard and pommel (sp)were not of high a quality as the blade (which was excellent). Has anyone tried out the Cold Steel Special Projects daos and gims? They look great, but you will certainly pay for them.
