Mobility (footwork - moving into and outof the different ranges...)

Offense (5 ways of attack and the many ranges)

[Mechanical] Defense: deflections (like pak, cover, salute....), things like catching jabs, shoulder rolls, ducks, bobs, weaves, slips, bong saus, using your elbows and an active guard to fend off randomness... etc ... knowledge of body mechanics and zoning your opponents limbs...

Conditioning (being tuff...)

Knowledge

Expierence (Sparr and find out.)

These on their own, are defence.

Stop hit medium.
- Medium outside.
- Medium inside.
Stop hits:

- Front kick
Leg block knee up low.
- Uses a step that combines the burst and pendulum step.
- Low inside.
- Low outside.
- Low front.
Evasiveness

Ground defence:
- Break fall – side, flat on back.
- Grappling.
Parries

"Forearm guards high.
- High outside.
- High inside."

High inside is more restrictive than using the palm heel thumb down.

"Ground defence:
- Break fall – side, flat on back.
- Grappling."

For defense you might prefer to strike from the ground as well as move on/along the ground.

I No_Know what defensebefore, during nor after, perhaps.

No preparation seems to improve my appriate actions' reaction time.

One might say I use Awareness as defense.

There seems to be: absence of awareness, block, deflection, avoiding, yielding and ignorance.-2

These are the types of defenses.

absence of awareness
When some are waiting to attack, they wait for you to become aware. If you walk by and are not alerted they do not attack, perhaps.

block
Stop, jam, inhibit by getting in the direct line of motion~.

deflection
Bump, nudge the object in motion or a connected directly related part. Causing deviation in path of motion.

avoiding
Deliberate not getting hit

yielding
Accepting force with slightly less than equal force and maintaining that differential until the force balance equalizes at zero or some-such. Continuously regulating resistance to defend to the point of emptying the attack of energy.~ -ish

ignorance
Being humble, kao taoing, bowing your head, lowering your gaze...recognizing the other as superior in some way or rank, satiating the other's whatever for respect or acknowledgement of position/rank/power...acknowledging that you are less than them they don't bother hurting you because it is a waste of effort/ you are not worth it. Ignore that they are there and it is taken as fear/submission and you are comparitively left alone.

These seem to be a decent coverage of defense types.

I have one bit of advice for you, Void Boxing.

Get into a ring and SPAR. Find a grappling guy to go against.

The answers to your questions will come after you get beat up a bit.
