I just bought a bodhrain (Irish framedrum) I was convinced I had no musical ability, but I'm getting the rhythms rather easilly and I blame kung fu.

a jig= backfist, hook, roundhouse in figure 8 fast succession.

4/4 is how I usually fight, when I fight boxers who fight in 4/4 I go 6/8 and get a few in when they are done.

Kung Fu is everything. Music is brand spanking new. Maybe I can do math too.

Actually, after starting kung fu, my drum playing did get more fluid, and the tom rolls a little easier.

Hey Stacy, try using an odd time. (Both musically and for fighting.)
For instance, you could try 7/8. You would count it as 1-2,1-2,1-2-3. I have found it useful in sparring people with good rhythm, it confuses them.

5/8 is fun too. 1-2,1-2-3.

I started contact juggling and that seems to be helping my kungfu.
