man do I feel old.....

not really! Thanks Apps, I feel great, this summer has been a real turn around for me so it all feels like it is going where it is supposed to!

The gys at the Kali group are hustling me off after work to some open night fighting and then off to a bar north of the cities to get drunk and watch the tough man competitions they have there! No Doctor Who for me this day ;)

hehe, check this out, I figure since it is my birthday and I am reveling in my geekhood, I would give you guys a treat. Here are some pictures of my crew out at the local Renaissance Festival. I have a kilt as well but wasn't wearing it.

The kilt with the black t-shirt and beer can would've been a good look too.

MK found a ***** in APs armor!

Don't make me come over there and spank you on the mat MP!

Ap, Good idea, just for you I will make sure this years pic has me in a kilt holding a beer can and maybe some pink high heels or something ;) Just don't let your wife catch you looking at it longingly!

You know what cracks me up about that group picture at the top of the page?! I am 5'10" and 205lbs! Not a small man by any means yet the rest of that crew dwarfs me!

Just make sure it's a real kilt and not that high school field hockey skirt you lifted from the locker rooms. You're not fooling anyone, you know.

Thanks Souljah!

That sucks Tony, I know how it goes though. Thanks on the congrats for the training, I am really enjoying it. That and the kali have sort of revived my interest in th emartial arts, it was starting to get a little stale there for a while.

Have a good one, tonight!

{shaking head} ren fairs {/shaking head}

:p

red5angel
06-20-2003, 10:49 AM
come on Oso, you gotta love em!

ARen't you in the carolinas somewhere? I hear horror stories about doing the carolina fair, so many bible banging sit ins and trying to "save" the actors and crafters at that fair it gets pretty crazy I guess!

Where you been the last few days anyway brother?

Oso
06-20-2003, 11:01 AM
yea, the biggie is just north of charlotte. I've been twice and they are pretty cool...turkey legs and guinness :)

they have one here in Asheville every may and I was going to go this year but the woman's mom came into town and she's got bad knees so it wasn't an option.

and, yep, heart of the southern bible belt. didn't see a sit in either time I went but I can imagine.

several years ago, after getting dumped by a girl I'd been with for 7 years, I almost ran away and joined this medieval combat troop that used to be in Tennessee somewhere, just tried to google them but couldn't find the website. If you got accepted you would go and live there for 6 months and train and then try to make the team and travel to renfairs with them.

This week I have been:

getting to work by 7 to put a couple of hours in before

teaching a kids kung fu camp from 9-1

then

working till 5 or so and then doing the night classes.

just got done with the camp for this week. the kids busted butt this week and learned an entire form and then performed for about 150 parents and other kids. a little ragged around the edges w/o a doubt but they got up there and did the form w/o me leading them through it.

but shortly now I will be starting to drink. there is a small street party downtown with a ska band and it's NOT FUGGING RAINING !!!

I will hoist one for ya!!

red5angel
06-20-2003, 11:05 AM
Sweet! I won't be drinking for another couple of hours.

Thats the far I was talking about, never been there but I spent two years on the road travelling to fairs all over the west side of the country. I met a lot of people who had done that fair.

I can tell you this, running away to do the renfest for two years was one of the best decisions I have ever made!

I envy anyone that was able to do the wanderlust thing.

right now, my retirement plans are a boat. I'd been thinking about a sailboat but lately I've been considering how much work that is going to be so am now thinking about something with a couple of turbo diesals. watch me wander then.:)

red5angel
06-20-2003, 11:10 AM
hehe, I may do it again when I am close to retiring. I met my wife on the road and she would like to do it again. It was pretty kick ass!
Where else can you pull through the darkness in your car to spotlight some guy, locked in the stocks getting his bare ass spanked by some chick dressed head to toe in latex! True story!

Holy fukk CSN!!! That thing nails the Renfest down!!! thats hilarious! And sadly I can identify with most of it.

By the way, the turkey legs you get at some festivals. If you notice it taste sort of like ham, it's Emu!

Happy belated Bday Jowbacca! The hookers are on the way.

My favorite is "Guy with turkey leg...at the falconry show!"

Ooh, that won't end well.

red5angel
06-20-2003, 02:35 PM
Ironically, at bid and large cat shows they now tell you not to bring food, especially turkey legs and don't let your smal children run around.

Two years ago I had to help catch a baby tiger, only about 200lbs, that had got out of it's cage and was running around in the swamp behind the stage the cat show was at!

The only ironic thing I see in red's post about the big and large cat show is the notion that any carnivorous predator running around in the suburbs that's 200 lbs could be described as "only" 200 lbs.!

LOL@ Rogue! I too married a younger woman, she turns 24 in august....

Ah a good weekend, I would love to tell you guys about it but I can barely remember most of it and my head is still throbbing. I got clobbered on friday. I got matched up with a bunch of guys who were way better on the ground then I was. Later I got jumped by a case of Bass....

How long does the Renaissance Fesitval last? Do the actors speak with a English accent?

red5angel
06-24-2003, 09:24 AM
Ours in Minnesota is 7 weekends. The actors use all sorts of accents, mostly european in origin but sometimes we get them as far out as klingon.
