$200? I'd go for a cd burner, spindle of CDRs from wallmart, kazaa, and x-news. The later 2 are free.

:)

I wouldn't really consider any of what I posted "Metal" per se, but it definitely lives up to loud, mean and ugly!

praxis

\Prax"is\, n. [NL., fr. Gr. ?, fr. ? to do. See Practice.] 1. Use; practice; especially, exercise or discipline for a specific purpose or object. ``The praxis and theory of music.'' --Wood.

2. An example or form of exercise, or a collection of such examples, for practice.

Or put another way: gongfu! Well, gong, anyway.

Any of the newer Chimaira albums if you like heavy stuff. Also Norma Jean is a good new heavy band, just make sure you arent buying stuff from the lady singer with the same name lol.

Wasn't Norma Jean, Marylin Monroes real name?

shuul sent me some mp3s of norma jean .....he's right, they are good.

napalm death's words of the exit womb is one of my most overplayed albums ever.

carcass's swansong is also really good.

course there's always deicide, morbid angel, unleashed, brujeria, sepultura, soul fly, bolt thrower, fear factory, suffocation, nocturnus, entombed, or wierd al to name a few.

some good thrash would include some anthrax, exodus, dri, testament, suicidal tendencies, slayer, kreator, vader, sodom, sod, amorphis ...

Funny you mention DRI. I was going thru my old tapes a couple weeks ago and ended up listening to crossover. Ahh the memories.

CSN, you are the first person I have ever seen mention the bug before! Wow...which of the members of that group got you to listen to it? I am curious :)

It wasn't that. I do trades with a lot of my online penpals, and one of 'em sent it to me. Turns out I like it a lot. I guess I need to check out Curse of the Golden Vampire and all that other stuff.

"Midnight Train from Georgia" is a great tune.

Chang Style Novice

It sure is. And yet, when I bought a compilation of Gladys Knight, for some reason it wasn't on there! I don't understand how that could possibly happen. It's only her biggest hit, and signature tune. Wierded me out, I tell ya. Of course, there were lots of other great tunes on there, too, so I wasn't too mad.

This is supposed to be about hardcore. Hence the reason I haven't throw out any Alen Parsons suggestions.

fa_jing

yep, Gladys is one of the greats but I think it might be just a little too hardcore for you guys. Better stick to Nu-metal and Death-thrash, keep it sane.
