Is it like San SHou, or is in a name for a tournament?

He's a magical fat old man who lives at the north pole, and flies around the world every christmas to give presents to all the good little boys and girls. He knows who's been naughty and who's been nice, and the naughty ones just get a lump of coal.

Also, it's a slightly different format from San Shou - not sure what the distinctions are exactly. I think the word literally means "Free Hands."

San sou is free hands and San da is free hitting or free fiighting I think.

San Shou is a regulated form of free fighting that is drawn from the techniques of Kungfu.

It is also the element that legitimizes competition wu shu as inclusive to martially applicable material.

San Da, is common to most styles of Kungfu and is the free form fighting of a given style. The rules are according to the style again and the kwoon.

San Da is different only by the fact that the rules are not nailed down as they are with san shou.
