Ok once in a while one of these stupid threads comes up where someone thinks they have a definitive method of making W.C competitive. We have chi sau competitions but many people disagree with the way they are carried out.

This is one way I thought of to find out who is the best W.C fighter in a given W.C competition.

Here are the rules:
* no protective gear
* when an opponent is struck consecutively with punches a point is awarded to the aggressor (the punches have to appear to have a certain amount of power behind them based on the judges own scrutiny Ethis is just so that people who chain punch as fast as they can wont win the day)
* when the opponent is downed by a strike (or strikes) a point is awarded
* the best of 5 points wins the match
* when the judge thinks that it is unwise for a fighter to continue due to injury etc, that is the match and the winner moves onto the next one.
* grappling situations will be discontinued upon 10 seconds after it goes to the ground
* grappling may continue as long as necessary if both parties remain standing

There are several reasons I think this would be an effective competitive method of measuring some ones w.c skill over another.
* First of all if an opponent is good enough to get in and land successive punches on you then they obviously have a better idea of centerline theory and control. The successive punches are proof that the hits were no accident.
* The point system would be a good way to make clear some ones superiority over another. It would also ensure that the bout is match is kept short and the damage is kept to a minimum. With no protective gear the fights need to be over quickly.
*The ground grappling rule would prevent someone that has worse w.c but better grappling to win the fight. A fighter may have set up a throw in such a way that he can easily take advantage of the person once they have hit the ground. For this reason there is the 10 second rule to allow the fighter to prove that this can be done. A point will be give for submission or several connecting hits.
*There should not be any excuses about this competition creating bad habits for reality. The point system seems a little Karateish but it should not resemble karate point sparring at all. The fighters will be fighting each other until the judge/judges call ‘pointEand/or pull the fighters off each other. The fighters will be trained to fight each other non-stop and only stop when instructed or physically removed.

One winner should come out of the competition. It should be done outside our English speaking countries and in a place that will permit such events. The gray areas would be the amount of scrutiny the judges are permitted to have and how to regulate deliberate attempts to cause permanent damage to a fighter e.g. eye gauging, groin pulling/twisting etc. As of yet I don’t know whether it would be better to start fighters from a chi sau position or separated position. Bridging is an important part of any fight I guess. Maybe half and half.

What do think? Is anyone willing to be a sponsor? We could hold it in Madagascar or somewhere.
