Hey Serpent.

New job opportunities opening up down your way.

Unemployed Man Sent to Escort Agency

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Returning to work took on an unexpected meaning for an unemployed Australian man when the government's job network told him to apply to an agency looking for female escorts.

The Australian Broadcasting Corp said an employment agency contracted by the government to help the unemployed find work matched the man to two advertisements seeking "Ladies of all Ages."

"I don't think the government should be expecting jobseekers to apply for a job as a prostitute," the man, who asked to be identified only as Tom, told the ABC on Tuesday.

The ABC said the advertisements had been included in Tom's list of possible options by mistake.

Prostitution is legal in some parts of Australia but strictly licensed.

LOL. Hey, it's a fair option. If he's consenting and the situation is licenced! ;)

It is a bit much for the government to suggest it though!

On the subject of Only In Australia, did you hear that the first ever brothel to list on the stock exchange launched last month? (Maybe the month before, I can't remember.)

Kinda reminds me of the time when they "legalised" prostitution back home.

They set out to set up rules for medical checkup, how brothels needed to be operated & advertised, etc.

Than it came to taxing those poor girls, problem is they could not find a tax appropriate for them so in the end they decided to charge them" Entertainment Tax".
:D

In reality it is still only semi-legal.
;)

Varies by state here. Where it si legal, it's completely legal - 100% tax paying regular business.

Of course, you still get the scumbags people smuggler, forced prostitution arseholes, but there's always the criminal element.

I'll trade my state employment agency for that one, please.

One question: if I work as a male prostitute, will I be assigned to a girl pimp?

We still got a large catholic population and making it 100% legal would have upset them, and those are tax-payers.

So the goverment decided more to make them semi-legal and thus be able to exert some form of control over them.

Brothels are legal if run according to goverment rules, street walking and similar is still illegal.

OTOH, ****sexuality is totally legal and widely accepted.

Typical european country new and conservative ideas living side by side.

Cheers.
