His name is Genki Sudo. Here is another video... this is his "signature" move called the Giant Wheel:

Highlight video, mainly fights:

Is it me, or did that dude acutally connect with a front flip axe kick (and pull a WWE move to some sort of leg bar thing).... and wow, he is the most mobile grappler I've seen.

Sudo's a great grappler. It's too bad he got robbed at the last UFC he was in.

but what happens when this guy gets punched in the mouth? any vids of him taking on guys that are strikers and kickers?
just wondering. not belittleing the guy, i just wanna see the whole enchilada is all.

he competes in kickboxing. He fought a guy in an early round of the K-1 World Max tournamnet to a decision who ended up winning the tournamnet...and some people thought he might have even won. Much of the highlight video above is actually of his kickboxing.

He is very unorthodox

no doubt. or is he?

looked like some funky kung fu shiat to me;)

I think he got punched in the face before he pulled off that giant wheel thing.

your point?

Awesome vids, lol that is one very well adjusted fighter.

Just from an internalists point of view that guy had brilliant body control and softness in his movement. He never appeared tense or out of control. His flow was awesome and his ability to remain compleately calm under preasure was also ammazing.

To top it all off he obviously loves to show off which always makes for one hell of an entertaining fighter :D

your point?

Willow sword asked "what happens when the guy gets punched in the mouth". I was saying that it looked like he got punched in the mouth, and then pull of the giant wheel.

Definitely bad ass, quick dude.:)

To me the most impressive thing in that pro fight clip vid was the balls he had to approach his opponents BACKWARDS while swinging backfists and elbows at them. This says to me: "I'm such a badass grappler I don't care if you tackle me from behind - just try it, punk!"

The second most impressive thing was the propane jet KFC bucket he wore as a hat for one of his entrances. If only he could wear it into the ring, imagine what an exciting fight that would be!

I have a question, there is amove he does a couple of times, where he wraps his legs around the guys kneck and usually one arm and they end up tapping out. Why are they tapping out? Where i sthe pressure being applied?

Chang Style Novice
07-18-2003, 08:13 AM
That's a triangle choke. Pressure is applied to the carotid artery on each side of the neck by the legs and on the trachea by pulling the head forward.

red5angel

hmmm, so that really works?

The side of the neck where the arm is out
is being pulled into the hamstring of the bottom guy... pulling down on the head puts much more pressure and is usually how it is finished.

truewrestler
07-18-2003, 08:24 AM
red5angel, yes

and keep in mind... this is a competition where the guys against him do not want to tap out and they are only doing so when they have no choice but tapout or passout

Chang Style Novice
07-18-2003, 08:26 AM
"hmmm, so that really works?"

You saw 'em tapping, right?

Thanks for the info guys, and the links truewrestler. I have never been put in this, yet anyway, so I am curious how well it works. It appears to be popular so it must work pretty well! I may have to work on it a little this weekend and see what happens.
