i was just thinking, in the movie crouching tiger hidden dragon it was certainly distinguishing the way in which they almost flew, and jumped sorta, anyways i was wondering if anyone knew if that actually has any real historical connection with kung fu and it's techniques or was is it just made up to enhance the movie?

its a fantasy version of something called "qing gong" which means light body skill. Training martial arts and qigong makes your body healthy and light so that your posture and legs are stronger. Also so you can jump higher and things too.

Hardly flying or from three to tree :) Ive seen some chinese acrobats who COULD climb up wallas and stuff - absolutely amazing.

But not like the movie - its based on a chinese fantasy fiction story anyway... much like western movies arent representative of the wild west :)

It would be based on Lightness skills of Chinese Kung-Fu.

hee hee...:D

The movie CTHD and movies like it are based on the wuxia (martial heroes) novels, of which there are hundreds.
The Chinese equivalent of western superheroes like Batman or superman or flash et al.
