Trying to find out what some words I have seen a few times mean in Japanese...

Ryu
Ryoken (sp?)

ryu = school/lineage
ryoken = blue fireball in Street Fighter II

Yeah.

"Ryu" is usually indicative of "school" as in "Togakure Ryu," "Kukishinden Ryu," etc.

Depending on the kanji it can also be translated into "dragon."

Ryoken.....I haven't heard before. If it's a video game or something it probably is nothing.

"ken" can sometimes mean "fist" depending on the kanji, so the famous "hadoken" means "wave fist." :)

"RyUken" would mean "dragon fist" i.e. "Sho ryu ken!" ;)

Or SekKENdo.... for "way of the intercepting fist."

"Ken" can also be translated into sword.

Kendo..."way of the sword"

bokken" "wood (stick) sword."

thanks guys! Ryu, I think Ryuken is the word I was thinking of, just had the spelling wrong, and "Dragon Fist" would seem to be an appropriate translation.
Ironically isn't that Ryu from street fighter in your avatar Ryu?

Sure the word is not ryokan (sp?). That is an inn/hostel.

You're right, my memory is poor.

ryuuken = dragon punch
hadooken = fireball
