Its a jedi mind trick.

The one thign I like about grapplers is that they know to mount an attack unlike most stands up I know. Its all about counters and anti-counters =P

Although some of these may be from wrestling as there is a lot of cross-training there...

Single and double leg takedows.
Clinching then wriggling to a takedown position.
If you're dumb enough to let them catch a foot...
Sweeps (usually from clench) and trips (often from the ground)
Armbars
I'm sure there are plenty more.

Most often it will either but a shoot or a throw or sweep from the clinch. Basically whatever gets you on the ground. If BJJ has a weak point it is in two areas one being stand up striking and the other which is a bigger weakness is takedowns. I think that is one of the big reasons why wrestlers are doing so well in MMAs.-ED

"The grappling arts imply most fights end up on the ground...take them there. The striking arts imply all fights start standing up...keep them there. The mixed martial arts imply any fight can go anywhere...be ready and able to go everywhere."-a mix martial artist
