Hi
I'm going to be travelling to Boston M.A. from the U.K. on holiday in a couple of weeks, any information on places to find taiji practioners would be great. Cheers

taiji groups of old chinese peeps meet on the Boston Common, usually really early like 5:00 am. One of them got robbed and beaten to death last weekend (Chinatown is in the red light district and is infested with crime). There are some serious masters in Boston like Gin Soon Chu, Bow Sim Mark and ywang jing ming, but they don't come cheap.

I respectfully submit that the only respectable taiji master in your list is Chu Gin Soon, and he is very conservative in his approach to teaching.

I've heard great things about Master Chu, I believe that one of my current teachers may have trained under him in the past. Do you know of any Chen style classes?

Unfortunately, I don't know of any chen classes in Boston that I would recommend. Herb Rich, north of Boston at digidao.com is a good source.

Would you put gin soon's swordplay up to Bow Sim Marks?

I thought that Yang Jwing Ming was mainly a White Crane practictioner.

Check out his site. I think he teaches just about everything or has written a book on everything. I forget which.

Perhaps Bow Sim Mark has nicer swordplay, but Chu Gin Soon probably has better swordwork.

Is the Boylston St. School the sort of place I could turn up and do some training, i.e drop into whatever class might be taking place?

I don't quite get your question. I think you need to start from beginner level. our school accept students anytime.

Al I was wondering was would it be okay to turn up and take a class, at beginner level, even though I'll only be in Boston for 10 days? I just like the opportunity to meet/train with other martial artists
Cheers

sure. I heard my sifu said we need more members. even if it was for 10 days, he won't mind. but in a week, I think there are 3-4 beginner classes. check the website I gave you.
