hi,
i'm a big beleiver in taking lots of water when exercising. they say that when you feel thirsty you are already dehydrated. having said that i also listen to my body

and i find that in long chi sao periods (wing chun), drinking water is the last thing on my mind, not only do i not want to do it and dont see any ill effects, but i actually feel like it would be harmful to me to do so.

from the external point of view i should drink water - but is there an internal aspect where it is better qi wise to not do so?

If your body is asking for water then drink water.

Dont drink water just because you think you should......drink just to stop your self feeling thursty...idealy before your thirsty but thats the tricky part.

See the recent thread on water and its hazards.

Our Sifu makes sure that we got 500ml of drink with us for his lessons,
usually isotonic, Tea or Water.

There are plenty of times during the lesson where we can take a break, take a swig and try to wipe some sweat off.

At the moment we are starting to hit the summer heat over here.
Next week Mondays forecast:
High: 34 Celsius
Low : 24 Celsius
Humidity: 89% ~(had 100% yesterday)
Heat index: 58
:D

Training outdoors after 09:00am is murder.

I drink water all the way though training.

Most guys bring a bottle of water with them and usally have to fill it up at least once.

I don't mind the Heat, but it is the humidity that kills me.

If you dont want water dont drink any unless you are obviously sweating way to much out.

Completely off the subject, but Liokault, there's a thread on emptyflower.com about Dan Docherty that you might find interesting.

Don't know if you go there but you might be interested anyway.

Erm, it seems to have gone. Did it spiral into abuse and get deleted?

Nope no abuse.

It was really quite nice to take part in a forum where people had a sense of irony and were able to take things in there stride.

I will be going there more ofton I feel.

Oh yeah, apparently they're having some problems and threads got lost.
