but it's a kung fu secret.....It ideally makes you punch like Mohomid Ali. Since I can't out and tell you watch Ali in slow play, when it looks like his hands are just fluttering and the guy gets knocked out, look at the leg to waist ratio. There are many awesome ways to train punching power. Heavy bag is one, some of the more effective training methods look silly until you do about 1,000 of them and then power punching is second nature and lends to speed/endurance punching which is all part of the same internal understanding

If your not bleeding, your not having enough fun.

Do pushups to gain muscle that is used to punch. Also, you might want to try iron palm. It will make your hands much harder and you won't be able to feel as much pain when you hit something.

10 times more?

Well since I can punch a locomotive of its tracks, not likely!
:)

But seriously, it depends on how good your technique is now. It's an unfair question. I can teach a computer geek to punch 10 times harder but probably not a pro boxer. (not under their rules)

The only real way to gain real power from your punch is through proper technique. GAining proper ging, waist movement punch impact.

Our system uses the pheonix fist with a corkscrew effect in the punch. We develop proper ging and the power comes out. The landing of the foot, twist of the waist and punch. It all comes from the tun toa fao chum concept.

Sorry to disagree with these guys in respect to doing push-ups & ways of gaining muscle etc.

You could be muscly & a smaller guy could have a more powerful punch due to his body co-ordination.

Have you ever been hit by a punch with power generating from the body compared to punching with the shoulder. There is a big difference. :)

Personally, I'm not really the punching type.

There are many techniques of fighting other than punching that have worked better for me, so I don't really focus on punching power in my own training.

You can bang away on a makiwara all day like some shotokaners do, interspersed with iron palm/hand training and round it out with medium to hard contact sparring.

Or you can get yourself a pair of knuckledusters. Works about the same. ;)

The only way I know of that might increase your power by x 5 is crack. To increase it by x 10, you need $8,000,000. You would then be the $8,000,000 man (inflation)
