I have a friend who suffers from psoriasis (hope I got that spelling correct), skin becomes red and broken in patches. Are there any foods/spices that should be avoided from a TCM perspective?
Cheers for the help

Any recommendations for reading up on ayuvedic medicine? It is totally new to me.

My father gave up eating red meat, this cured his psoriases. Tell your friend to try this.

your friend should avoid hot spicy foods. grapes are said to be good for the skin, from the perspective of chinese medicine

Basically avoid hot greasy foods and try blood nourishing foods more like dark green vegetables and cooler foo9ds in general that promote more body fluids.
Cut down on smoking and alcohol too as they promote more internal heat to dry out and irritate the skin.

There is a also a black-bean breakfast meal that comes in bags with single-serving packages at the Chinese groceries. There are a lot of herbs mixed in too. A TCM doctor whose specialty is Dermatology gave this to my friend with psoriasis.
