Sure they can Xebs, Royce can even kick. Thing is why hurt your hand trying to knock someone out when you can choke him out in three seconds.

Depends on what throw they use. I can't even stand after a good shoulder throw. :o

Heaven forbid they use a Ho-Ti (spelling?). Those are just sadistic.

Sure they can. (paraphrase:)If I have arms and hands, can I not punch at you? If I have legs and feet, can I not kick at you?...

If you would like for grapplers to be able to strike, then contact your local Union representative. :-)

Last year I attended a Rickson Gracie seminar.

Rickson asked the class "How many of you have a black belt in another art? Please stand up."

At least 3/4 of the class stood up and one by one he asked us which art. Answers were typically karate and tae kwon do, but were as diverse as aikido and my own kung fu.

Rickson's responce "Well I guess that proves the myth that jujitsu guys can't punch is wrong!"

something to think about. ;)

Since when can TMA strike well?

Since when can TMA strike well?

I didn't want to ruin Rickson's moment by saying that.. I was enamored by his aura.

Sevendude,
I think you should go ask the few Gracie puzssies and other grapplers who still fight on mma why they ALL crosstrain on striking ;)
Or you can sit down and discuss of striking inefectiveness with the Chute Boxe guys for example ;)
And others ;)

Other dude whatever,
That link of the video i dont download, i got 56k connection. If its mma stuff its pointless to the discussion.
mma has grappling, but mma is not a "grappling style"
d@am fool makes me laugh

they crosstrain for well roundedness, and to learn how to deal with strikes, not necessarily because they HAVE to strike.

Regardless though, I wouldn't assume that they can't strike.

Xebsball. I am not sure why you are having a pop at grapplers when you do BJJ???

Hmmm could be a case of multiple personality disorder:D

Son, its a long list of "my problem with" threads that point "the flaws of the WOR-LD"

Sevendude, ever seen Minoutauro fighting? His grappling is ultimate super magic awesome, right? But have you seen his striking? He is very good at his striking too. He can strike. His grappling is better but he can strike -> cos of his MT training, not cos of his grappling training.
On his fights he uses both striking and grappling. Many times it is necessary to use striking to create better grappling situations and to resist the oponent as well. He needs to know striking good to be able to fight with the best of mma. There are other brazilian who came from grappling than learned striking for mma and became good at striking too, but i wont bother posting a list.
OR maybe he should give up that MT training cos he dont need it then

Stop actiling lika playa hating fool Sevendude, youre pizssing me off now
I know youre smarter than that

Sure!...But the problem is the half hour of guard work before. ;) (And big John something yelling "come on work! ...Do something" during the whole thing!...;)

Snake - swung by tail end at ferocious speeds
Crane - Thrown at unsuspecting enemies with devastating accuracy
Mongoose - Gives enemy excessive alcohol and swindles him for money, sending him to his wife inebriated and broke

Thats how I use them at least...

Seems interesting. Are there any vids on it around? (forms or sparring clips?)
