Does kung fu really stand any chance against grapplers or wrestlers. For some reason everyone says kung fu won't stand a chance against groundfighters and i've seen a couple videos, these kung fu people just get charged at and thrown to the ground like nothing. So is kung fu really more inferior than groundfighters in a actual fight?

YM,

You ever stop to think that a handfull of videos that span ten years or more isn't a good cross section to base anything on?

The person who cannot obtain and maintain superior balance, position, and posture is really more inferior in an actual fight. In many cases, this describes kungfu.

This also then includes 50 % of those that fight in UFC.

No, meaning that in every fight in UFC there is a winner and a loser. And that happens regardless of style.

I see the nutriding continues........

YM,

Let's turn this question around. Since this question really has already been beaten to death, and really doesn't serve any purpose. Kung fu isn't going to fight for you. MMA isn't going to fight for you. you are going to fight for yourself.

Do you feel comfortable fighting in kicking range, striking range, and grappling range?

Do your school allow full contact sparring?

How realistic is the training at your school?

Do you have people you can practice your moves with on a daily basis, so these techniques become second nature?

Do you practice your mantis technique like wrestler practice their techniques on a daily basis on resisting opponents.

A wrestler/bjj guy might fake a punch/kick and shoot in. for a quick moment, his back side and neck is expose. can you exploit it?
If you can't avoid the takedown or exploit the opening, then he will be in grappling range where he is a specialist.

do you have a small number of techniques (ten to twenty) that you know extremely well and can transition from one to another smoothly? have you pratice it in grappling situation? can you adapt it for use in grappling situation?

do you test your techniques against unfamilar foes? do you test your techniques against other stylist (wrestlers, bjj, judo, karate, muay thai, etc.)?

nobody is perfect, no art is perfect. you live and learn. you fight and learn from your mistakes. so what's my point, kung fu can't fight for you. wrestling can't fight for you. you fight for yourself. you learn your art and sharpen it like a knife. you sharpen it everyday, then it will work when you use it. if you don't sharpen it, then it goes dull and rusty. so you lose. that's it.

it is not kung fu, it is not wrestling, it is all you. you and your effort determine the outcome.
