FYI.

MATSUMOTO, Nagano -- A man used a judo throw to scare off a bear that attacked him while he was picking mushrooms on a Nagano Prefecture mountain Monday afternoon, police said Tuesday.

At around 3:50 p.m., Keiichi Yamaguchi, 63, a resident of Matsuda, Kanagawa Prefecture, was picking mushrooms on a mountain in Omachi, Nagano Prefecture, when an Asiatic black bear suddenly attacked him, police said.

The bear bit Yamaguchi on the hand and left thigh and he responded by hitting it on the nose and in the stomach. When he used a judo technique to hurl the bear, it ran away from the scene. The bear was about 170 centimeters long, police said.

Yamaguchi said his injuries are not serious, but he intends to receive medical treatment at a local hospital. (Compiled from Mainichi and wire reports, Japan, Aug. 19, 2003)

True enough! Have you seen those vicious claws on those things?!?!? Not to mention their ability to p!ss on you from a great height. And those fluffy ears are deadly.

Meh, it's yet another uncorroborated report of a TMA winning some un-named challenge match.

Funny how nobody's even heard of this bear! And what was his fight record? A few fish, and the occasional worm pie?

Man, Royce would have choked the **** bear, and held him in a submission till the video cameras and newspapers had turned up to record the event.

What is it with old Japanese guys and judo throwing bears? I swear I hear at least one of these 'grudge match' reports a year. Is this something like our own 'big fish' stories or what?!?

yes.

Mr Punch

Just so's I know.

I'm still not gonna be your friend you know.

In fact, unless you fondle em real good, I'm gonna have to throw a bear at you.

sing: it's the first thing I learned in aiki: kumanage. The second throw is tobiuonage which is the technique of throwing big fish, well at least this big at your enemies (usually really really big bears). No, honest.

I personally would have taken the bear to the ground since that is the only true way to fight.

You have to insert your hand as deeply as possible in it's mouth, grab something and then, you pull it inside out like a glove.
Easy!...;)

Humphrey rocks. Well, he did when I was a kid anyway. The lack of pants is a little disturbing, but he is still such a cool kids character - a pantsless bear that doesn't talk!

joedoe

How many bacon sammiches can a bear eat?

shaolin kungfu
08-20-2003, 07:51 PM
Well, a 1978 study on the subject came up with these nuumbers.

Grizzly- 48
Brown bear-36
black bear-32
polar bear- 6. For some reason the polar bear did not like bacon very much.

There was also a study done on the koala, even though it is not,in fact, a bear. It found that koalas do not eat bacon.

Serpent
08-20-2003, 09:08 PM
Nor do pandas.

That's just one of the many reasons that both koalas and pandas are totally fukked.

(Except Sexual Harrassment Panda - he was cool).
