OK, nowhere near me. Otherwise I'd always be happy to teach a keen student. Sorry I can't help :(

Look in the yellow pages, go and visit schools. Find one you like, start to train. Train hard.

Yep, it's really that easy.

Smyrna is a pretty big city. I'm surprised that everything around there is karate-oriented. Or do you just mean Japanese-oriented? Unless you're willing to travel then you may have to settle for that. Frankly, as a shotokan nut, I think you could do a lot worse. But I still think if you dig a little more you should be able to find a respectable CMA school, or at the very least a boxing school.

For further help you might try posting this on the General Forum which has a lot more traffic. I'm betting somebody there will be able to help you a little better... They help other people with questions like these all the time.

Though I don't know anything about the individula schools - a simple search on the net brings up these:

and he likes to fight friends who take unheard of forms of Tae Kwon Doe...

he's a 12 year old.
and if thats not true you have my apologies.
but you call yourself NEO and you ask for moves over the internet for a stupid fight a week away..

Neo if you have better tact that this now would be a good time to use it.

Also there has to be something other than Karate is a city that large.

Hey NEOM, Sam teaches somewhere in Georgia, he posts everywhere..go the taijiquan threads find a post of his and drop him as email. He is a VERY good martial artist! He does taijiquan/baguazhang and is very good at the martial/self-defence aspects..Im sure he would like another good student.

ditto on Sam Whiley. He seems to be a nice guy whose abilities are acknowledged on these forums. If he is not what you want, he seems like the kind of guy that might help you find what you are looking for.

If you are seriously looking for street defence and that only (I gather this from your other posts). Then I would without trying to offend everyone look for a boxing, Muay Thai or a good JKD class. It would also help if you added some wrestling or submisions fighting.

Any of you guys ever heard of Chien Hong School of Kung Fu, or the Eagle Claw Center? You can find the links at atlantamartialarts.com.
