modern dit jow = Ben Gay?

I've been told by several people now that Ben Gay lotion & hot water soaks render the same affects as a good dit jow. In a way this makes sense to me since it would fullfill the reqs. (ie. increase circulation, facilitate healing, lessen pain etc.). Opinions?

Neigung, what makes them different. Obviously they have different ingredients, but what makes the end result any different?

DDJ contains herbs to strengthen and repair. The alcohol helps to transport the herbs through your skin.

That's what they say.

I don't know if the other stuff does that or not.
