What do you mean by breakable? I've had a sword fall apart on a thrust, but I also know people whose swords have lasted 10 or so years. Spring steel swords are made purely for performance though and can't be used to hit anything. They're much cheaper than other swords, but you get what you pay for :D

I've had cheap "combat steel" swords fall apart alos because their weight was too much for the cheap rat tail tang in the handle. I'm a big fan of Paul Chen's Hanweii forge straight swords right now. They require a bit of maintenance due to the carbon steel blade, but they're relatively inexpensive and they have a great feel to them. I've only had my current sword for tw years so i can't say how long they will last.

So if you're banging your sword against something, it's going to break. Still, compare the price of wushu (http://store.yahoo.com/martialartsmart/45-66wu28.html) to hanwei (http://store.yahoo.com/martialartsmart/452063.html), you're looking at about a 3rd of the price...
