This may have been discussed extensively in another thread, but what other styles practice forms or katas as a major element of their training?

I'm interested in fighting arts other than of eastern tradition. For example, did the Roman gladiators, Greeks, Scottish, etc. use a type of form practice in their fighting training? Is this uniquely an eastern tradition? Thanks.

The romans utilized large scale style katas to teach the infantry basic spear and sword techniques. (had huge groups doing it)
