Since Ford liked my artwork so much, I've decided to do a series on how to exercise.

Hey Ironfist, you forgot the vast importance of bouncing the barbell off your chest as you bench. You can add 50 lbs. with a good bounce!

Yeah, but no one even looked at this thread for a few days so I didn't want to spend the time to make more if no one was here to appreciate them. But the exercise you mentioned was next on my list.

Stay tuned for more exercises!

Out of interest, isn't the standing dumbell curl good if you make sure not to use your lower back for momentum?

Yes, if you use good form it's a good biceps exercise, and can work the forearms, too, depending on the grip you use.

So when you're talking to people you should constantly be giving them the finger?

Also for the shrugs you forgot to point out that you should jump up as you do them, giving you more momentum to lift, therefore allowing more weight therefore increasing the amount of ladies that will want you.

this thread does indeed rule. i hope it outlasts the got qi thread, if only because ironfist is making such fantastic tutorial pictures. :D

keep 'em coming, IF. don't forget deadlifts and good mornings.

I like the highlighted "lower back activation" in the first one.

:D

RTB, if male bimbos are himbos, then I guess the word you're looking for is gymbo.

in context,
"I can't use that stairclimber until the spandex gymbo gets off the one next to it."

OK. Now we need one about the dangers of free weight squatting, so it's better to use a smith machine.

i just had a very scary thought:

once ironfist is done with the basic lifts, what happens if he moves on to illustrate yoga postures? :(

Well, there aren't really any dangers if you do the 2" squats like I drew above. However, you could always do 2" squats in a smith machine. Good idea!

Hey, do a gym ettiquette one on the way that people spend like 10 minutes doing a few concentration curls, then strut about for another 10 minutes so that the hotties can check them out. Then tell you they need to bench when you ask if you can use it now.

BTW, curls are best done in a power rack.

Power rack?

Ford Prefect

Yeah. One of these:

http://www.flexcart.com/members/elitefts/default.asp?m=PD&cid=167&pid=681

They should be used for squats and heavy compound movements.

Ahhh... I want one of those real bad. Makes sure you have perfect form on squats, gives you ability to train alone... ect...
:)
Never knew what they were called tho. Just said I wanted a weight set with guide bars for squats and bench.

No way, dude, you're thinking of the wrong thing. A Power Rack has no guide bars or anything. You're thinking of a Smith Machine (the one where the bar goes on the track and you twist it to lock it).

And, smith machines don't give you perfect form on squats. In fact, doing squats on them is pretty bad. You shouldn't bench on them either.

You can train alone anyway, just use the safety bars that will catch the bar if you get stuck at the bottom of a squat.

it's also called PURS -- Perpetual Upright Row Syndrome, or the "I-Can-Only-Fit-Through-The-Door-Sideways Syndrome."

I think of male gym bunnies as gym mullets.

wtf?

Reducing files, um, converting them to .jpg usually takes care of the size. You'll need an art program that can resize stuff to make it physically smaller. MS Paint can probably do it.
