This thread is a joke, right?

What a stupid question. Put Mike Tyson in a sewing class and it would be agressive all hell. Put Mother Theresa in the cage hyped up on steroids after a crash course in 15 styles and it would still be about as aggressive as a 90 year old origami master.

Person, not the style - anyone remember that old adage?

(Wow, can you imagine Mother Theresa hopped up on steroids in a cage? If only she was still alive, we could experiment with the hypothesis.)

And before the blow hards start on at me for dissing Mother T, it was just an example, ok? Sure, she was a super holy nun, she did great things and should be revered. All true.

But just imagine her hopped up and ready to lay the smack down!

when i want to be really aggressive in a sparring situation, i find myself in a shantung black tiger mode! when i do those forms i feel like im possessed by the devil...just rip and break and tear through everything!!

Tigers cool, but i dont like all the "claws". Im not about scratching someone. Id rather slap them in the mouth and throw them head first into a wall or the ground.
Edit: the bottom jaw pulls in tigerclaw are pretty d@mn cool tho.

That is so right. Royce would have dominated the first few UFC's even if he trained in TKD. It completely doesn't matter.

Ford? was that a joke? If so, it was a good one ;)

At least we all agree that TKD suxors.
How many people on here have a BB in tkd?

Ford Prefect

I'm completely serious. Royce could have been crippled and had no martial arts experience, but his personal fighting spirit would have lead him to dominate his opponents. You can see it in his eyes. They are very sexy.

Someone put weed in ford coffee this morning.

either that, or there just aren't any women at the gym during his morning workouts, and he's forced to stare at the menfolk between sets.

Ford Prefect thought at a recent Royce Gracie seminar. "Oh boy, I sure hope he picks me to demonstrate the Triangle Choke on."

Yes they are for grabbing and tearing, but also for scratching.

I have to side with masterkiller on this one sd. I love the tiger systems. I have put a lot of time into them. Master schaefer back home made it perfectly clear that you are not scratching. You pull your fingers back far enough that you can strike with the whole palm, including the part closest to the fingers. Then, as you said, you grab, rip tear and yank on whatever it was that you just smashed the $#!t out of! If you ever watch a tiger chasing and killing something on discovery or national geographic (or if you are "lucky" enough to have them in your back yard), watch the strikes that they throw. More often than not, the tiger will strike the prey in a manner that sends it to the ground and then the clawing begins. Nothing demonstrates a tiger's power better than watching one take one swipe at another animal, and seeing the other animal just go sprawling to the ground. Before it can even figure out which of its ends is its head, the tiger has pounced and starting ripping it apart. Now that's aggression!!

Yes, I understand the aspect of palm and tear. Tear = scratch. Theres just systems that Id much prefer, thats all. There is indeed a bit of scratching in tiger. and grabbing and pulling ect...

I never said you don't do any raking....but the majority of the time, you hit like ninthdrunk describes.

Yup. and thats not my preffered method of attack, basically what I already said.

Uh no, tear does not equal scratch. Tear is done after firmly clawing and grasping a handfull of soft tissue.

Saying that tear = scratch is the same thing as saying kicking = playing footsies.
