This is Diagonal Cut, aka Chopping (http://www.combatshuaichiao.com/austin/Side_Door_Chop.wmv)

Here is Forward March aka Matching Kick (http://www.combatshuaichiao.com/austin/Matching_Kick.wmv)

Shuai Chiao Headlock (http://www.combatshuaichiao.com/austin/Head_Lock.wmv)

These 3 go together, and can give you a good idea of how you train a technique in the CMA. In this case, it is a front push kick

Chain Stepping (http://www.combatshuaichiao.com/austin/Chain_Kick.wmv)

Tree Kicking (http://www.combatshuaichiao.com/austin/Tree_Kick.wmv)

Playing with the Kick (http://www.combatshuaichiao.com/austin/Toe_Kick.wmv)

This is a combined SC form created by John Wang (http://www.combatshuaichiao.com/austin/13TB_24S.wmv)

Chain Stepping = white dude need to keep his hands up...

that forward step with the back leg gives the kick away...

Why would you hop before the tree kick? Looks like a vulnerable motion to me.

Oso,
A lot of times the variance in systems is not the 'technique' itself, but how you make it work. The attribute training, body mechanics, and insight that went into the system. So - no surprise that we will see similar stuff in Hung Gar - after all they come from the same 'family'.

Hmmm...maybe. I don't see a good way to turn it into a real kick, though, so I doubt it'd fool anyone.

MST, agreed. That was why the winky smilie. :)

I've been trying to make a point here and there on those 'this vs. that' threads.

Thar sum thik hedded peepuls on this ferrum.:D

as far as the toe kick goes, same-same pretty much. stop either his forward movement or HIS kick by kicking his leg first. my sifu, of course being much better at it than us poor students, used it as our shin conditioning. My shins are still knobby from 20 years ago.

I'm not sure WHY the hop works, but I do know it works.

The way I use it is, whenever the guy tries to step toward me, kick the knee. If you can't put weight on the front leg, you can't punch. I use it as a defensive movement. I'm not sure how it would be applied as an attack. Offensively, I rely on my jab.
