A friend of mine decided to start with martial arts again.

Has anybody of you links or addresses of proper schools in the Netherlands, preferrably near Rotterdam?

If Indonesian martial arts are to your taste.....

Maurice DeThouars teaches silat in the Netherlands. His family has a strong reputation.

John van der Jagt teaches Mande Muda silat in Rotterdam. This is his website.

Excellent, thanks a lot, also and especially in my friend's name!
I think he might like that style, as well.

Have you trained there yourself?

No, but an ex-training partner had a background in this silat lineage along with another. I don't know when he was using techniques from one lineage and when from the other, but he was good and very unpredictable. The Mande Muda lineage has a good reputation in the US, for whatever that is worth :D .

I can direct you towards some video clips if you wish.

Look up Harry DeVries as well...he's from the same line as the DeThouras...

I hear Theo Schrijin's school is good, but I've never experienced it.

you can find a lot of schools in the Netherlands at:

This is a video of some Mande Muda clips.

Look hard at MonkeySlap Too's suggestions also, as the man knows what's what.
