If it works, use it. If it inspires you, do it.

(Am I too simplistic for this forum? I wonder sometimes =p)

I once attended a class and wasn't that impressed, but that just means it wasn't for me. I can see how it could be effective.

My main problem with it is all the ridiculous nonsense that passes for truth about this art's past, and what a practitioner can and can't do. I suppose there are some good schools out there, but they're probably few and far between.

it would be interesting to train in it..but i would only do it under master Hatsumi, or one of his students.

I agree completely. I visted a school in NYC and almost laughed. It was Tae Kwon Do with rolls. So, my thoughts before taken Ninjutsu would be to check out the background and his liscense.

It was only completely blind luck that I found the man I train under now. He is good, if I didn't find him, I wouldn't be crosstraining the way I do now. So, yeah, check out the background of so called "Masters"

If you pr!ck us, do we not bleed? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge? If we are like you in the rest, we will resemble you in that the villany you teach me, I will execute, and it shall go hard but I will better the instruction. MOV

You should research information about the martial art you are interested in and consider if you really want to learn that style. Perhaps going to an exhibition or demonstration could be a good way of knowing the art, because there are people who can give answers to your possible questions. Basically you should choose the style which fits you best.

Ninjitsu/ninjutsu/... has a bad name in this country. Its because it became comercialized to make money. Also it became real common for instructors to lie to thier students that they taught fighting techniques that none else knew, or that reason that they dont enterr tournaments is because what they do would kill people. Or my favorite they are not allowed at touenaments because everyone knows they would win every time.

A style may be effective, but when too many instructors pass on propaganda it gets out and the styles will lose respect from other styles.

I have been doing Ninjutsu for a little while now,
and like many have wondered how good it is. I think it is the best martial art, besides Tiger Style Kung Fu and Wing Chun. But Ninjutsu is very subtle! You may go watch a class and look down on it very much. Some movements are awkward and some are too simple. But if u apply yourself to it, and train very patiently,u will find it to be an excellent style for any occasion. Rather than blocking punches non stop we seize the moment for a counterattack. Or rather than attacking wildly,we strike the soft points with fingers. We learn many different ways of how to hit, choke, cut or thrust, rather than kick madly to the head with fancy kicks. It is for SURVIVAL, not for looking good or competition! That is why some lessons arent as FUN as others, but even the most boring lessons are extremely worthwhile! As u need to learn the basic things like evading swords, knives, and sticks. Ninjutsu spawns from philosiphical self-defence and is the smartest way to end a fight! I would strongly recommend Ninjutsu to almost anybody besides criminals and people who start fights. If u get a bit less interested, just keep going and u will see a much more simple way to end a fight!

Well yeah, bujinkan budo taijutsu is a very good martial art. I've practised it for year and a half now, and always when I look at the black belts doing it, it's so effective, fluid, fast, economical and beautiful. We tend to attack with simple blows, without using too much energy and strength. The strikes are very effective (I've seen them, and felt them).
BBT has lots of grappling in it, not like ground fighting, but more like the traditional ju-jutsu way. It's a very long progress to learn BBT. It usually takes about 7-8 years to earn the black belt, and then about 15 years or something to get 5.dan black belt. Well, everybody can find their own true art, and I have to admit that I'm not so dedicated traditionalist :)

Ninjas do not exist as long as they don't want to.
