Hello people

Has anyone heard of a International Shaolin Federation being set up by some of the monks now living outside of China? Any info would be appreciated.

There are actually several, as one might imagine, but the one that seems to be emerging as the most significant at this time is the Shaolin Chan Wu Federation, under Shi Xinghong. We ran an article on Xinghong in our Shaolin Special 2000 (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/magazine/article.php?article=152), authored by my disciple brother Dr. Rich Russell (www.russbo.com). Under Shi Xinghong's advice, Dr. Russell also opened a school named Shaolin Chan Wu, but this one is independent of Xinghong's federation. Xinghong's main base of operations is with Robert Lyons in Hungary (see www.shaolin.hu) - www.martialartsmart.com carries a few of Lyon's videos (see Shaolin Crane (http://store.yahoo.com/martialartsmart/pr-dp11.html), Shaolin Tiger (http://store.yahoo.com/martialartsmart/pr-dp10.html), pressure points (http://store.yahoo.com/martialartsmart/pr-dp09.html), vs. karate (http://store.yahoo.com/martialartsmart/pr-dp06.html) & vs. tkd (http://store.yahoo.com/martialartsmart/pr-dp07.html)). We just picked up the Canadian Chan Wu branch school as a distributor - see www.shaolincanada.fr.st (warning - a lot of pop ups on that site.)
