Hello,

I am curious about whether or not anyone in the PA/NJ/NY Tri-State area would be interested in a get together after the New Year? We did this before at Sifu Alan Lees school and it was okay. Since then it has been talked about but never materialized.

As many of you know, I like to include ones family. Being that I have a large family and in many instances our family members are left out of things, it might be nice to let them participate as well.

First thing to decide is where and when. While I would opt for Philly I believe I would be in the minority. So might I suggest NYC perhaps Central Park (it was suggested before). I would suggest sometime in Spring or the start of Summer to allow everyone sufficient time to plan for this.

Anyhow let me know if anyone is interested. Oh, if someone else would like to organize this type of event then please feel free to take the reigns.

Peace,

Dave

BTW: Happy Holidays to Everyone as well!!

Hey Dave,
You know I'm down. Do you still have my cell number?

Hi Dave.

Schedules permitting, hopefully I and/or others from our group can participate. I'll stay tuned as details unfold.

Some additional options to consider:

- Centrally located is relative; so western New York might be a feasible consideration, especially if folks from Canada or the Midwest might participate. There will be a fast ferry in place between Toronto and Rochester by summertime. It would also be an opportunity for people to plan some vacation and sightseeing in our region, or nearby Toronto. The Finger Lakes and Niagara Falls are among surrounding must-sees, plus casinos, etc.

- Albany also has some density of Wing Chun practitioners and schools - some folks in the Ip Ching line, Moy Yat/Sunny Tang line, and Leung Sheung line just north of there. It’s roughly half-way between NYC and our area.

- Our group hosts an annual "Wing Chun and MA Picnic Thingy." We had a great turn-out last year, and already have a lodge reserved for next year's event. It’s scheduled for mid-July; I'm out of town right now, but can verify the exact date after I return home. We won't mind killing two birds with one stone, so to speak, and naturally we'll encourage everyone to join us for that anyway. It's open to people from all MA’s to join us, in addition to Wing Chun practitioners.

- FWIW, I might be able to offer assistance with logistics or coordination in the Rochester area, and possibly even in the Albany area, in case you’d like to factor that in. The NYC area is more of a challenge for me in that regard.

Just some ideas - take 'em or leave 'em. Tossing these out mostly in case it might help to complicate your planning, LOL.

Regards,
- kj

This year will be bad for me (expecting baby in February), but otherwise, I would love to be a part of an East Coast gathering. You do realize that the East Coast stretches from Maine to Florida though, right? :P I say, put it in the middle, like D.C. But that's only because I live in Virginia...

Hello Everyone,

First of all Phil;
I believe that I do still have your cell number. Mine is about to change. The porting thing did not work right and I am out of patience. As we firm things up I will give you a call. Of course, if you still have my home number and will be in the area you are welcome to call.

KJ ;) ,
You think you're slick don't you :D ? Been trying to get me up to your neck of the woods for a while now. What better way then to have the gathering in your neighborhood?
Having said that it might be nice to kill two birds with one stone. I would not mind having the gathering in either Albany or Rochester. I think that Rochester might be better as you already have something in place. I woud suggest getting everyone who is coming to confirm a couple of months in advance to insure adeqaute space at the lodge. If you could talk Steve Wong into cooking then all would be well :) !! Seriously though not a bad idea at all and worth some exploration.

aelward;
You and the family would be welcome!! I have six kids so I can relate though. While the East Coast may stretch from Maine to Florida the important parts are NY/NJ and PA :cool: It does seem that everyone wants to have a gathering where they live. I keep trying for Philly but seem to keep ending up elsewhere. Maybe one day everyone will drop by to visit me at home. <hint> <hint>

Will be talking more on this as time progresses.

Peace,

Dave

Hah, I was just joking about VA. I know nobody will come down here :P

However, a Keith Myers from Rockville told me that there were thoughts about doing a DC-area get-together sometime. Who knows, maybe we can all make that happen.

Chris: I am in Richmond.
