for anyone with a serious interest in herbalism and medicinal plants in general, may i suggest that you get yourself a copy of this book.

It is a weighty tome and is the result of years of research.
It is also worthy of note, that if you can't find herbs from around the world for that particular recipe, it is quite likely that an alternate can be used to gain the same effect.
So, to that end, this book is an excellent resource.
Heck, even if you just want to identify plants on a nature walk, it's handy dandy.
