Hi,

I'm wondering if everybody could add some natural ways to help the muscle building progress.

I like to stay away from thhat whey powder etc.. for my own reasons, call me stupid I won't blame you ;)

So far I noticed, chicken and Tuna fish.

The tuna fish is ok, I can't eat chicken too often, max. ones every week. But the tuna ain't too great on my breath and sex-life :)
So maybe you guys could help me out with some alternatives, that I can afford, eat without cooking them etc...

Thanks !

Also maybe what NOT too eat.

PS : I also include loads of water of course, forgot to mention that.

Obvious answers would be other meats like steak, turkey, etc. If you don't have time to cook, then you could always get cold cuts to put into sandwiches. Turkey would be the best option followed by chicken and then roast beef.

Tuna can get a little rank and the mecury and sodium-pyrophosphate in it would make me a little weary of od'ing on the stuff. A great alternative is canned salmon. It isn't as fishy but it is a little more expensive.

Lastly, you could do egg whites. Whole eggs would be good as well from organic and/or flax fortified chickens. Make yourself some eggsalad for sandwiches even....

Milk is a good "natural supplement". Depending on your goals, I'd recommend skim milk since drinking milk with fat in it can cause fat gain. Fruits and veggies are always a good addition, but fruit juices generally are not nor are soft drinks like coke, sprite, etc.

I wouldn't call you stupid, but why DO you stay away from whey powder? Most sports nutritionists highly recommend it.

Just curious!

There are also many other protein powders out there that don't have whey.

Well I still live with my folks, and my father had a friend that did serious bodybuilding, but took all kinds of sjiet. By taking steroids he got a liver disease, which ended up in cancer, and death. So now when I bring home anything that enhances muscle growth etc.. (if you understand what I mean) they kinda freak out. I can understand it though, and I don't wanne bring up their bad memories everytime I bring something home that reminds them of that. I know it sounds waaay out there, but it JUST recently happened, so I'm not going to push the envelope here.

I ate 'ham' today as a supplement, is that any good ? How many slices would you recommend ? (it's that meaty stuff you put on a sandwich)

Why can you only eat chicken once a week? You don't like it much?

Soy beans, Soy milk, Tofu, Setan (Especially good almost 80 grams of protien Per a cup), Tempeh all these are excellent quick protien rich foods.

If you're getting your protein from non-meat sources, be sure to combine so that you get complete proteins. Things like corn with beans, etc. Most vegetable proteins are incomplete and need to be combined for the same kind of benefit as meat. Usually a large variety of non-meat proteins will do the trick.

Yeah But the ones I listed all are complete protiens all have all 20 or at least all of the essential ones

Rory

but hey any kinda beans and long brown grain rice may provide one of the most complete meals

I don't have the time to cook chicken every single day, once a week is enough already :)

Is the ham no good or what ?

Thanks for the useful replies, keep em coming, especially 'snacks' that don't take a lot or as little possible time to prepare.

I like a Hungarian salami -- cheese, tuna, peanut butter, sardines, are good protein snacks.

I get home at midnight most weekdays; I don't have time to cook anything every single day.

I usually just cook once or twice a week, and cook way, way more than I'm going to eat, and eat leftovers for the rest of the week.

"But the tuna ain't too great on my breath and sex-life "

tuna actually has chemicals in it that help blood flow to the genitals. Fish helps reduce risk of prostate cancer.

Ford - on the chicken and tuna thing, chicken is healthier, no? I thought that chicken = less fat, higher protein per serving.
I may be wrong tho.

Ham is good, but its very high in sodium. Eggs are an excellent source of protein. Nuts are a good quick protein boost before the gym when you need a pick me up.

Depends on how the chicken is prepared, but generally it will have a good deal more fat than tuna. Mayo usually makes up for this. ;)

Ham is OK although fatty. Cheese isn't bad, but again it is fatty.

If you go with peanut butter, go with the organic kind.

I meant between chicken and turkey. :)
I know tuna is leaner than both. Until you add mayo to it.

I think those two are relatively the same, but the turkey has more useable protein.

Ahh...
what differentiates usuable and unusable proteins?

It's called, biological value. When you look at the side of a milk container and see "8g protein/serving" that doesn't mean you are getting 8g protein. I forget milk's BV, but let's say it's 75% then the amount of actually protein is 6g. I don't recall what exactly goes into determining BV. I know turkey has more protein/oz and more BV than chicken though.

Meat Shake

But whats BV?

Rory

bovine victorious j/k

Sorry for all the questions... But what's BV?

for dinner, i eat a lot of pasta and meat sauce because the carbs are good before a workout, and the meat has the protein as well. hmm, turkey sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, i ate a detour bar once for 30g of Protein, but, i also have a question. if i want to avoid fried foods, greasy foods, and fatty foods, wut do u recommend are good things to have for dinner? i eat pasta but like im not gonna eat it 7 days a week...chicken i dont always have, salads half the time, wut else is there for dinner?

i stay away from the whey protein too...i feel like im cheating by using that and it doesnt feel natural. i like eating natural foods to keep my body natural/organic, with the exception of a detour bar i once ate...that **** wasnt too good though...and...whats Setan? 80g of protein?!?! im bout to eat that all the time once i figure out what it is! and ima start eating nuts and **** but...i also wanna look out for pimples cuz i like to look pretty :)....heLP!!!!!

What blood type are you? That would help dictate what protien rich foods would be best for you to develop muscle on.

AHAH No setain is a south asian recipe. The mix wheat or spelt with water then spray it at high intensity with water until ALL THE CARBS (STARCHE) is off then you have about 80 grams per a cup of protien go to a orgranic food store they will have it

I like to add mercury to my tuna fish. Albacore. Chunk White. Tend to eat it 3-5 times a week. Mix it with some miracle whip and onions and celery. Rocks all over the place.

fa_jing

yep, albacore tuna has something like 6 times the concentration of mercury as chunk-light tuna.
