I normally don't like t-mag as a whole (although they've gotten better) but Thibaudeau's stuff is pretty awesome.

This (http://www.t-mag.com/nation_articles/293pend.jsp) is interesting. I didn't read the whole thing yet, but what do you guys think about changing the focus of your workout every week like he recommends?

Sounds similar to Dr. Squat's ABC protocol:

Makes sense, but I haven't tried it.

Changing every week doesn't seem to provide a good base to develop any one attribute. Especially during the non- competitive phase of the year.

Although this seems similar to traditional periodization, during the competition phase of an athlete.

^ I agree.

I mean, maybe it's possible to cycle the weights throughout changing 1-week cycles so that you're always improving, but it still sounds weird to me.

But what do I know? Thibaudeau seems to know his stuff.

I remember reading that they have done studies of periodization, vs. the "train for everything at once approach" and the conclusion was that the former technique had better improvements in performance.

Don't rememeber where I read that though, but i think most of the research was done by the former "eastern bloc" countries, ie USSR, E.Germany, Romania....

This seems more suited to a competition phase of the cycle; I might try it to see how I feel.
