DC KFM gathering

So Merryprankster got the bright idea that we should usher in the New Year with a KFM gathering at the Third Power gym in DC again.

Open sparring night is from 6:30 to 9:30pm. It's $15 at the door.

I just spoke with the manager, and he mentioned he's gotten calls from other people about that night as well. So it'll be hard to say who will be there and who won't. Have to wait and see.

Anyone game?

The Bmore folks were planning on catching the fights tonite; other than that I have no idea what the plans are.
I need to call around but won't be able to until after work.
Lots going on tonite tho- my lil bro's coming into town; he and my new roommate wanna do whatever I'm doing tonite.
I really wanna make it down there but the scheduling looks like it's gonna be real tight.
Get home @ 5, call around, bro comes between 5 and 7, fight sometime between 8 and midnight, go party between 10 and 3...

I'll email you from home if i figure anything out.

It's in downtown DC. I can make it from my place to your neck of the woods in about an hour and a half sans traffic. I'd bank on at least two hours to the Third Power gym.

btw, I'm supposed to be getting some roll time in w/ a bona fide catch wrestler. He's supposed to have trained under a Jernigan or Fergison...something that sounded like that, anyway. He was a guest instructor one night at my jujitsu class and is going to be coming in a couple times a month from now on. I fully expect this dude to tie me up in knots: he was very very smooth. Can't wait.

Well, I guarantee my company won't give us the day off. But I'm local, so it doesn't make much difference. We could probably work something out.

Well, it was a successful gathering of sorts. All we did was throw hands. But that's really all we were in the mood for. With my shoulder, I can't grapple and I don't really think either of us felt kicky...plus my fiancee wanted to work on her hands, so it all worked out.

Ap and I and my fiancee made it up to the gym and we all took turns beating the hell out of each other. Ap's a southpaw, BTW, and I don't think I like that much. Also, he has a pretty good left cross, and his footwork is pretty nice.

His head movement, on the other hand... :D

I am out of practice, with bad timing, and I almost fell out of the ring once. Luckily, for all of you, we caught that on tape and will be sharing it with the forum.
