I was wondering what the traditional shaolin uniform is. I have seen orange with black sashes, orange with red sashes, light blue, yellow, and others. Does each on mean something different ? What is the shaolin uniform that they wear at the shaolin temple in china?

The shaolin monk robes actually descend from Buddhist monk robes, which descend from an aescetic tradition of making robes from the discarded vestments of the dead. Given that, early monks had to take what they could get. Today at Shaolin Temple, there is a lot of variation in the robes, but no rigid code per se.
