Just curious if anyone has officially studied Chinese medicine, and where they studied?

Anyone have any recommendations on websites/books/videos/schools for someone interested in learning more?

Thanks in advance.

There is a accupuncture school in Racine, you might want to check it out.

I teach at a school in British Columbia, Canada, the Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences. We don't have any distance learning in place but you can check the website at www.acos.org (http://www.acos.org)

BC is rather unique in that it just made into law the first College of Chinese medicine in North America. While Colleges of Acupuncture exist in many places the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupunturists of British Columbia is a rather new thing. Its the first step to the formal incorporation of TCM into the existing medical delivery system.

There is a TCM school in San Fan. CA. I was thinking attending it for my grad work. They only offer full master and Ph.D degrees. I believe the web page is http://www.actcm.edu.

I went to school at the American Bodywork Institute in Kankakee IL, that is probally too far for you to travel though. I studied The Fundamentals of Chinese Medicine and Acupressure. They also have massage therapy and reflexology classes.

there are so many BAD schools out there.

Watch out.

Watch for what style of acupunture they teach. One style deals with mainly the emotional component...some students have a hard time treating chronic pain from these schools.

ALso look into asian body work. Many modaliteis are just as effective as acupuncture. Watch out for fake masters. it's worse then the martial arts.

If you study kungfu you will be ahead of the game. Your sensitivity will be much greater than most beginners. Esp. if you do internal arts.
