I might have found a school!!!

I was talking to this guy at my gym tonight who was wearing a shirt from Keith Hackney's school. He said he was one of the instructors there or something. Anyway, I can't afford Keith's school, but he told me about this other school that is pretty near my house where they teach grappling and boxing, etc., so hopefully it will be cool. I'm going there with the guy tomorrow night, assuming the weather is decent.

He said it's $10 per class, and you only pay on the days you show up. First day is free. Awesome.

He said the boxing they teach is "angry monkey" or something like that. That's like what they do at Straight Blast Gym, right? I think I read something about it on their webpage. He said it was pretty cool. If anyone knows anything more about it please share here.

So, I'm totally excited. NHB club at my university was cool as hell, but I graduated last May so I haven't been there in almost a year.

So yeah, wish me luck.

What's Weh Chin Ni's LongFist all about? Naperville is about 45 minutes to an hour away from me, which is a bit longer than I'd like to drive.

Yeah so I went there tonight but the main instructor was sick, so my friend taught the class. It was structured a little differently than the NHB club at my university, but it was pretty cool. I probably won't go again until next Tuesday. I hope I don't forget everything before then.

ten bucks a lesson, jesus... I pay about 13 or so bucks american for 8 lessons....

WTF? You gotta move out of norfair, man. I pay 85 a month and that includes bjj 5 days week, MT 2 days a week, judo 2 days a week and submission wrestling once a week.

I pay $110/month for unlimited classes. Which is a good deal if you're like me and have no life and go to the gym six days a week. :D

Yeah, I've been going there for 4 weeks now. I'm going tonight, actually. It turns out the teacher is affiliated with StraightBlastGym, which is funny that it's named that because there's no Wing Chun or JKD at all as far as I can tell. The main fighting stance is the Crazy Monkey thing (I made another thread about that). And then lots of grappling stuff, too. I like the class so far. There's only like 6-8 people there and everyone is really cool.
