Who the heck ever mounts someone like that? If the guy was sitting on his chest and pummeling him, that move wouldn't work.

1970's cheezy porn is calling...it wants its hair and moustache back.

They must have some kind of special flooring to make that loud impact sound for every move.

*sigh*...

I suggest he use a roundhouse from that position. Maybe even a tornado kick.

The clip wouldn't open for me so I gotta copy/paste then save as for mine.

Well, the basic principle isn't that bad - pull the guy from one direction and push him from the other.

The problem lies in the fact that as MK said upthread - the guy on top isn't making any effort to root or base or whatever you want to call dropping your weight and steadying yourself. He's perched up high in a goofy unstable position that no-one with any experience would ever use.

i didn't think the standup was that bad, but i agree with the whole nobody in the ****ing world is going to mount like that ever in no shape or form no matter what the **** you might think point.

Couldn't here a word he said. Heard it when stuff got hit, though.

I liked his standing defence thingie, just I would have used a kick with a bit of angle to the inside on it.

As for the "mount," um . . . huh? I mounted a partner like that once in a BJJ class. once. Right after we got finished being shown why that was a bad idea. Never did it again.
And I kinda doubt the big man flew off of porn star that easy without some help.

That took like 5 minutes to get from searching for the file to the actual "file download" box.

So, yeah, that was ****ty. That was the worst mount I've ever seen. His **** would get ruined if someone mounted him the proper way.

Also, wtf do some teachers demonstrate things this way for: What I mean is, in the beginning when they're standing up, the guy doing the attack at first does it really slow: he throws a slow punch, and then another slow punch, the guy blocks it, and then blocks the next punch, and then does some follow-up move fast as hell. Ok tough guy, your fastest moves against a guy who has thrown a punch and left it out there are obviously going to work. Do you think that makes you cool? The other guy was just standing there not even expecting it. Do you know what I'm talking about?

In that opening part of the clip, the dude attatking still lands a hit to the front of the shoulder...if your accurate..that's a vital point right?

That guy looks funny...:D

But aren't you suppose to deflect punches but pushing away at the elbow not the forearm, right?

I guess if a guy gets in a stupid mount like that, this is great stuff. Tatum is an excellent martial arts teacher, quick and a good athlete. The basic concept of shocking, pushing and pulling is sound. If the guy had you in a full mount, the principles would be applied differently.
