I think there is one in Humble TX so I dont know if this is
to far from where you are or not? I cannot vouch for the validity
of its teachings but if you are interested let me know and I will
get you more info.

They opened a branch in Garland. Not sure what classification they are (north/south) but their instructor, Sifu Cottrell, is legit.

I asked this same question probably well over a year ago on this same forum with I think, the very same responses!

To the best of my research, there is not anyone who teaches Southern Mantis in the DFW area. Sifu Cottrell teaches Northern Mantis.

Humble is a suburb of Houston, a good 5 to 6 hours drive from anywhere in the DFW area, so I would not think that would be an option for most people! Sifu Henry Poo Yee's Chinese Kung Fu Academy Of Southern Praying Mantis is headquarted out of Houston, so more than likely any SPM schools in that area are probably affiliated with him. I do wish though that one of his disciples would relocate to the Dallas area, I would be very interested in trying out Southern Mantis. I have been interested in it since I was 12 years old and bought my first copy of Black Belt magazine (August of 1969 !) from the corner 5 and dime store and it featured a picture of Master Gin Foon Mark on the cover.

Sage, whatever you are looking for in Southern Mantis, you might find some similiarities in Wing Chun, and Sifu Cottrell has an excellent Wing Chun instructor by the name of Son Dinh and yes, he is located on Belt Line Rd. in Garland at the Cong Dong / Vietnamese Community Center. As posted above by Losttrak, their Web site is http://www.authentickungfudallas.com/.
I took a few lessons from Son Dinh a while back and found him to very knowledgable about the art, but the story of my life, I got busy with some work projects and never made myself go back once the workload slowed down.

Also you might want to check out Sifu Philip Ng's Hung Gar Tiger Crane Kung Fu Academy in Richardson. He is very reputable and very well known and highly respected in the Hung Gar community. Hung Gar is a Southern style (I do not mean to be trying to tell you something you probably already know), but be aware that they are very big into Lion Dancing! Also very low stances (ouch!- I have a bad left knee that just does not do low stances). Their Web site is http://www.hungfist.com/

Nope, sorry, thanks for trying, but Kingwood is next door to Humble.
